From the standpoint of Bronco Nation, that's really a very stupid question. However, Ivan Maisel wrote an interesting piece on how the all-time best coaches from each program really impact that program in terms of overall winning percentage. Boise State's all-time winning percentage is a ridiculous .720 (377-146-2). Take Coach Pete's crazy 73-6-1 record out of the equation and Boise State still comes in at 304-140-1 for a W% of .684.
So, in short, Boise State doesn't just have a history of success over its brief Div I-FBS existence but a rich history of winning football going back all the way to the beginning, regardless of level of competition. In the back of its hive-mind, Bronco Nation has always known the Broncos have had a great program and great coaches prior to the Coach Pete era. It's just nice to see the numbers back that up.
