The BCS is going away! Well at least the name
This is probably the smartest thing the commissioners have done this whole offseason. Hopefully they didn't pay a marketing firm to tell them that the name "BCS" carries negative connotations and might not be the best thing to call the first playoff that fans have been waiting for for years.
Brett McMurphy runs the numbers on team's performance since 2007
Yesterday, McMurphy reported that one way the new revenue from a playoff could be divvied up would be based on past performance. Boise State standing on their own stacks up quite nicely coming in at number 5 just behind Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Oklahoma. However, when grouped into conferences (based on 2014 membership) it's not quite as great as the Big East comes in sixth. As Brian Murphy points out, if the Big 12 added Boise State and BYU they would jump the SEC and cut off the Big East.
