Boise State recruiting news - May 2012

[Update by Kevan Lee, 05/17/12 ]

Houston RB Trevorris Johnson picked up an offer from Boise State this week. He has offers from Houston, SMU, Utah, and Wake Forest also, but he didn't grow up liking any of those teams. He grew up liking the Broncos. Good job, WAC TV contract. (source)

Rancho Cucamonga ATH Toure Boyd will visit Boise State later this month and could be a late addition to Boise State's previously signed, sealed, and delivered 2012 class. (source) (via BT)

Video highlights, if you're interested.

Corner Charles Okonwo from Summit High in California has Boise State and San Diego State as his top two and may make his decision as early as this summer. (source)

Four-star offensive tackle Kenny Lacy from Arizona has trimmed his list of potential suitors, and Boise State is on it. So are 15 other teams, so "trimming" may not mean what you think it means. (source)

UCLA is tops on three-star RB Pierre Cormier's list with Arizona and Boise State tied for second, but that should all change once UCLA and Arizona start playing football live on public TV this fall. (source)

New York DE Ebenezer Ogundeko has offers from Florida and Alabama but has a real interest in the Broncos. Why? Because he gets The .Mtn on his satellite dish?

"I'm very interested," he said. "I'm very, very interested in Boise State.

"I've talked to their recruiter and their defensive line coach. I like them because of their tradition. I really like the team. I haven't got to see them but I want to."

One of the top JUCO prospects in the nation, DT Ben Bradley will visit the Boise State this month. The Broncos may need to adjust the width of their doorways. (source)

Three-star OG Sean Harlow lists Boise State in his top three along with Oregon State and Colorado. (source)

Four-star CB Cameron Walker picked up an offer from the Broncos, and Boise State has a pretty good shot at landing him, considering Walker's high school friends Lee Hightower and Chaz Anderson are currently on the roster. (source) (source)

2013 Boise State recruiting class (so far)

  • OLB Joey Martarano - 6'3", 230 pounds, Fruitland HS, Idaho, three stars
  • TE Alec Dhaenens - 6'4", 235 pounds, Fruitland HS, Idaho, three stars
  • QB Ryan Finley - 6'4", 180 pounds, Paradise Valley HS, Arizona, three stars

The Fruitland duo of LB Joey Martarano and TE Alec Dhaenens were the first to commit to the Broncos' 2013 recruiting class, with Martarano doing so nearly a full year ago. There is little doubting the commitment of either Grizzly, but if one of them would pull a Marcus Rios, it would figured to be Martarano, choosing the allure of stickball over the nirvana of Boise State football. Joe Mart is the nation's top-rated high school corner infielder.

The Broncos received a verbal commitment from their QB of the future in March when Arizona's Ryan Finley put verbal ink to imaginary paper. Expect an OBNUG firestorm of "Can Finley really replace Nick Patti?" in about four years.

Here are the Finley highlights, or Finlights as they will come to be known.

Attention, OBNUGgers: If anyone has a life calling to research and report on high school football recruiting, please let me know. I am always looking for slave labor assistance.
