I have noticed everybody wincing at the notion of Boise State's Olympic sports maybe dropping all the way down to the Big Sky and I must ask Bronco nation why the negative reaction?
Lets face reality, NCAA athletics are a two sport revenue system with the other sports (in most cases) just being forced onto the schools to retain division 1 status. If Boise State is in the Big Sky it would actually benefit the school in multiple ways, the most important thing is that it would make the basketball program relevant again. I know its been fun getting smacked around by admittedly superior MWC teams and being a mid range team in the WAC but this is a chance for Boise to get back into the March Madness race! With Basketball its March Madness or bust and this is really the only way back in. Another major bonus of dropping down to the Big Sky is to get some regional rivalry's fired back up. With Idaho probably dropping to the Big Sky in all sports and Idaho State dreaming of playing us, what is the harm in getting some in state battles on the radar for games that count AKA conference games and playoffs? Another factor to look into is that with a few more bus trip worthy opponents it would save money for the revenue inept sports.
Long story short, with the possibility of Boise at least being on the radar for a March Madness births and other sports having a slight drop in travel cost, why is everybody so outraged?
