The good news is that the conference commissioners talked logistics for a 4 team playoff and not feasibility when they met in Dallas yesterday. The bad news is that they apparently are over thinking things. They issued a statement after their meeting yesterday in which they listed some of the hurdles facing them in their discussions. Let's just hope we never have to send these guys into any situation that requires actual critical thinking.
Apparently officials from both conferences assumed that the NCAA would let them keep 2 AQ bids to postseason tournaments. The NCAA said no so now looks like the merger could be off in favor of an "alliance" for scheduling purposes. Wilner lists all sorts of ramifications for this including Air Force possibly reconsidering on joining the Big East to the WAC being raided again and Idaho's football future in jeopardy.
It's mostly in the title though. The actual article is just a nice history of where Petersen has coached and what good things other have to say about him. Really seems like people in Eugene are bracing for "when" and not "if" Chip Kelley leaves.
If you're into that sort of thing.
