West Virginia Mountaineers cancel Sept. 8 game against Florida State Seminoles - ESPN
We need a 13th game. FSU needs a replacement OOC. We have Sept. 8 open. Slam dunk. Let's schedule it now!

While this would be amazing
What’s our schedule look like in Sept? There would have to be some shuffling of dates to make this happen, and somehow I doubt we could get a home and home out of this.

I can read
But think about how close that is to MSU? Not sure how good of an idea that would be…

Two BCS opponents in two weeks would be awesome for our ranking. Besides we need to show we can play a "BCS" schedule week in and week out.
If we can beat MSU we can beat FSU. I think we can beat MSU.
It's not a matter of
If we can beat them, it’s a matter of playing two road games of that distance so close together. I’m pretty sure most HC’s (including Coach Pete) would hate to have to do that.

I would argue
That we don’t NEED to prove anything, but I digress…

Pres Kustra hired a new AD in part because he wants all sports (particularly football) to play higher caliber opponents
The new AD will be doing everything he can to get Boise State as many “power program” opponents scheduled this Fall as possible.
Look for one more AQ school to be scheduled this Fall…

Really? This would be great.
But, may I ask, what crystal ball are you consulting? Any solid backup to this hypothetical possibility, or are you simply conjecturing?
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they, too, have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
We could ask FSU for 2012 in Boise, that way we aren't going to Michigan and Florida two weeks in a row.
Then get 2013 in Tallahasse, one week after playing Washington in Seattle. That would give us two aways in a row in 2013, but Seattle is close enough that it wouldn’t be so tough on the boys.
FSU travelled to Provo to play BYU
Lets see if we can get them to come to Boise!

Something...
like Oregon would be awesome. Just to test the waters for a couple years. I doubt the AD and Coach Pete would do this with us bring so young. Besides, I believe FSU wouldn’t want a piece of the Broncos at all.
'If you see me bleeding blue, you know I'm Ok.'
I'm sure the phone has rung in the Boise AD's office from a Florida Zip Code.
The only thing the BCS has to fear, is fear itself, and Blue is the color of fear.
Who knew Danno looked like a young Tom DeLay
This is not a politcal statement. The physical similarity in this picture is amazing. “Everyone’s got a twin.”
Time is the great equalizer.
I agree D.B.Bronco...
we need this. I don’t care for a home and home. I would take it if it was and away and away. FSU would be a good challenge. Especially how good everyone thing their going to be. God, I hope the AD can make this happen. Thou it is likely not to happen, doesn’t mean it won’t.
'If you see me bleeding blue, you know I'm Ok.'
I like how you said "think"
Everyone always “thinks” they are going to be good (See the last 2 or 3 years), and then they choke. Honestly I would love to see this game happen, was just putting a realistic spin on it.

You got a point.
Im just saying what I would like and want to see. I don’t fear a bad out come. I’ll support this squad threw thick and thin. Besides, the reward is worth it. I’m sure these kids would love the challenge.
'If you see me bleeding blue, you know I'm Ok.'
Being realistic, next season is for rebuilding.
I am fully prepared to lose a few in 2012 and lose out on the automatic non-AQ BCS spot, even with a MW schedule. I hope for a better outcome, but if it doesn’t happen I won’t be let down. I expect an off year.
So with that being said I believe that game time against stronger teams like MSU and FSU (if that happens) will be great for our guys even if we lose. The BE may be “perceived” to be weaker than the other conferences, but it’s still stronger than the MW or WAC. They need the tough game experience to compete for the BE championship and the final BCS bowl opportunity.
Only if they agree to a home and away, only fair.
If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"
Sorry Astrosmurf...
But I doubt a school like that would agree to a home and away. Our stadium still needs more seats. I wouldn’t mind an away and away. Good excuse to go to Florida 2 years and a row.
'If you see me bleeding blue, you know I'm Ok.'
Those were my exact thought...
But I didnt want to get ahead of myself. Haha. Im really hoping he pans out.
'If you see me bleeding blue, you know I'm Ok.'
Maybe,
but if they need someone good, and want serious TV exposer, their not going to get a better opportunity. Besides, they’ll be catching us double time on the road, and I know its conference, but they do play in lesser stadiums, and they could stipulate that its down the road a bit, so they can capitalize on our stadium expansion. We are pushing towards 50K. Here’s 2 stadiums comparable to ours, they play at.
Best guess for Wake Forest Demon Deacons football Stadium capacity is 31,500
Wallace Wade Football Stadium – Duke University. The current capacity is 33941

Good point on the stadium capacities. However OOCs are money games. FSU is forced to play in those two stadiums. They have nothing to gain from a trip to Boise.
It would be great if we could get one but I’ll settle for a away and away in Florida.
Like I said though,
its pretty common for teams to schedule a few years down the road. At that point we should have decent capacity, and with the amount of TV interest it will generate, it should be a win win. Make it 2016 or something.

If we schedule with them this year & down the road, they should easily be able to find an opponent for the year after.
Gives them more flexibility.

Agreed. It's not at all uncommon for teams to schedule two games several seasons apart
Look at our MSU matchup.

or maybe they would rather schedule a cupcake and stay insignificant. ha

We would definitely be playing a road game
if we got FSU. No way on earth they would make their fans travel across country to play in a >34,000 seat stadium. Thus far the PAC12 teams are the only BCS teams that will play in our stadium outside of a bowl game (Boston College in 2005) and that is due to proximity more than anything else.
The date is pretty terrible for us imo.
Michigan St. is a team that is rebuilding just as much as we are. The Seminoles keep getting overrated every year but there’s a reason for the hype and a reason for the collapses as well.
Two years ago was Fisher’s first year as Head Coach and that program needed a LOT of updating. Last year their defense was ferocious but they had lost something ridiculous like 5 WR’s to injury or baseball or whatever. Injured that badly on offense they were still able to give a good OU team quite a bit of a game. Think back to how ‘up against the wall’ we were when we lost our top 3 CB’s…that many injuries has a tremendous impact.
I’m not into turning down challenges, but this team presents some risk we should be aware of. It’s a team that has performed like Arizona St. the past few years but has elite level talent throughout the roster and has had stiff obstacles they haven’t been able to overcome in the past two seasons.

Yea, I doubt Coach Pete is near as crazy as we are..lol

Looks like FSU
may sue if they can’t find a suitable replacement. I would imagine Louisville or Cincy could fill the gap though.

I believe this young squad is underrated.
Like, 2008 squad underrated. I know we can beat MSU. I think FSU is a stiffer challenge. They return a boatload of starters and will be ranked high. If this team knocked of MSU and FSU, that one two punch will stay with them until they graduate. Beating two teams like this would be a legacy and pay serious perception dividends down the stretch.
However, just because they played in Provo doesn’t mean we could get them to Boise. LaVell Edwards stadium is nearly twice as large and much much less intimidating. Not sure FSU wants to be the first team from the south or east to come get pounded on the blue. These ACC teams don’t even like coming for Bowl games- ex. Miami in 2006.

I was referring to a year later in 2006.
When Miami played Nevada and they didn’t want to come. Larry Coker had just been fired and I believe some personnel refused to make the trip.
