Bronco Stadium expansion
I had not read any previous articles on the stadium loan approval and football facility expansion project that mentioned the inclusion of new seats in the first Phase. Is it possible that Bronco Stadium could have as many as 40,000 seats in time for Big East play in 2013?

My math says 32,000 + 3,300 = 35,300
Now, will we be able to stuff another 4,700 fans in there? Maybe so..
LMAO!!

Bronco Stadium currently seats 33,500
Plus 3,300 is 36,800; which is what Wikipedia says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronco_Stadium
40,000 minus 36,800 is 3,200 more to squeeze in. a lot more doable :)
But the point was that we will have more seats in 2013, and that is awesome.
OK, I'm sure the 2 compressed ladies & the smash kid above would be happy..lol
But, I don’t know about the dude below the kid. I can only see his arm.
I believe someone posted the recent plans on all this on Dec. 3, Can’t remember who though?
I bet they tweak the plans to help future expansions come quicker. If they build it, they will come. By that, I mean 50,000 seat stadium, and when the big boys come and play, the stadium will be packed. $Cha-ching$

BTW, anybody know where to find an artists conception of the new seating expansion?
So far the Bronco site only shows the football facility, which varies drastically from the original conceptions released in 2010

Personally the change in the design of the football complex leads to think that the north end grandstands make have a different design than previously released.
we can only hope
because the original concept was unoriginal and ugly.

This is Phase 1. Notice the Track is gone and a section of lower seats are added. Don't know if that's still on the table.
Phase 2; The NEZ with the Football facility behind it.
Phase 3; With the SEZ extending to the upper deck and attaching concourse. Obviously the extended NEZ is not in the plans yet. Also notice the sky boxes on the East Side of the Stadium that no one has really been talking about lately. Don’t know if those are still in the plans.

Who knows what order or how they plan to do it now, but thats basically the plan we all know of. Ultimately it will look like this in some incarnation;
Notice the SEZ extension is omitted in this one.

Here’s an old rendering of the SEZ, notice the track is still there, probably an oversight.

what would the blue be like without the track?

Those are the origional designs. Me thinks plans may have changed.
Notice the older football building design? Nothing like the recently released plans. Plus there were problems with the water table and it now looks like lowering the field won’t happen anytime soon.
Those are the newest renderings available.
This is an old one;
Along with the the last rendering of the SEZ.
I haven’t heard one way or the other about the “water table” being low except from fans, nothing from reliable sources. As far as I understand the last announcement was the removal of the track and lowering the field 9 feet to accomodate more seating closer to the field. Now the gist seems to be enhancing the endzones first to accomodate less expensive seating, that will hopefully sell faster. I’ve never seen any official announcement that they were no longer considering lowering the field, just that they weren’t doing it first.
Who know what we’ll end up with…

I read somewhere that the water table wasn't that big of a deal
The article cited other stadiums that successfully have dealt with water issues…and NO, I’m not giving anyone a link because I don’t remember where or when I read that. Deal with it.

I don't get why they don't fill the SEZ in first?
It seems like their rushing some cheap stands in that won’t allow a total bowl inclosure later for maximum seats. It would be well over 50k if they built the double tear SEZ, and did the wrap around bottom on the NEZ, which would still leave the river view for awhile. Or, maybe I don’t know what the heck I’m talking about. I just like things orderly, and the NEZ just looks temporary & compromised to me.

I think I saw in the Statesman
that the SEZ stands will be big enough to maybe reach the double tear and you can walk from the SEZ into the rest of the stadium

That's the way it should be.
just like the picture right above.
Critical path:
1. Build the RT Corner lower & upper levels looking out at the NEZ (same as SEZ now)
2. Build the lower level structure & seats connecting the SEZ’s
3. At the same time incorporate in the Football complex construction
4. Build the lower level structure & seats on the NEZ
5. Build the LT Corner lower & upper levels looking out at the NEZ.
6. Build the upper level & seats, finishing the SEZ
7. Build the upper level & seats, finishing the stadium.
8. Call Ohio St & schedule them, then show them what its like to get their butts kicked, in front of over 60,000 screaming fans of the “Little sisters of the poor”
Note* Make sure Gee has a plane flight & 50yd line tickets so he doesn’t miss a thing.

The first phase includes:
New Football complex in North end (workout facility; offices; study rooms; etc.)
Additional bleacher seats (will increase seating capacity). These bleachers will eventually be moved to the new athletic complex off campus.
Hope this helps…

I believe it's the existing bleachers that are moving to Dona Larsen Park.
The existing 5,200 bleachers in the north and south end zones and the northwest corner will be moved to Dona Larsen Park, the new track and field and high school football complex under construction.

They are being replaced by 8500 seats in the Endzones along with the New Football Complex.
"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." - Mike Tyson
Why was the Steukel (sp?) Sky Center made to extend so far past the end of the grandstands?
I’ve always though it looked goofy with that configuration.
The way I see it...
…the 1996-97 expansion that curved the south end zone added 10,000 seats, 5,000 in each curved section. Bronco Stadium is currently at 33,500. If they wrap the north end zone to match the south then there would be 43,500 seats. Then complete the lower bowl to enclose both end zones. I’m sure that easily add another 10,000. That’s 53,500. Enclose both end zones completely and you could have close to 60,000, and it wouldn’t look ugly. Later expansion could add a third tier to the east side, or more at the end zones. Anything but the plan they’ve been showing.
Hey maybe they'll just wait until dUI wants to get real,
and then they’ll sell the new bleachers to them. I know 8,500 would be serious overkill, but what the heck, they should think big. Maybe they’d get filled, if they had a BSU appreciation day in Moscow.
