2011 Senior Class Tribute video coming soon (Teaser included here)
About the Video
First thing you probably should know is I started out intending to make a 3-5 minute video. Yeah, I ended up with something closer to 20 minutes.
This video will pretty much cover everything you want to know about the record setting 2011 Senior Class.
I got a bunch of highlight vids together and painstakingly clipped out every Senior highlight I could find. I then organized them all by player and gathered the ones who had sufficient highlights to do a 'sequence' on. I didn't hold out medical redshirts. If they were on the team as a Senior this year, regardless if they will be here next year or not, and had enough 'tape', I included them.
The video is organized as follows...
Part I: 2008 (Oregon), 2009 (Oregon), 2010 (Va. Tech), 2011 (Georgia)
This part has low key ambient sounds with a deep bass track and echoes, drum bangs, and a few audio clips
Part II: Senior highlights. I made a really cool looking Heads Up Display (HUD) style info plate for each guy. Hard to explain but you'll like it. Songs (in order of appearance) are A Perfect Circle: Blue, Chevelle: Sleep Apnea, Static-X: Destroyer, The Beastie Boys: Sabotage...might need one more and am seriously considering Flo Rida's 'Good Times' or Cash Money Heroes' (Kevin Rudolf, T-Pain, etc.) 'I Made It'
IMPORTANT: I am open to suggestion on this final track. I want it to be upbeat and positive, I prefer Hip Hop, high energy. My knowledge level here is a little low so I could use the help, especially from the twenty-something crowd. If you ever wanted to insert your own song into one of my videos this is your chance. Post suggestions in the comment box and Thank You in Advance :D
List of Seniors featured:
Kellen Moore, Billy Winn, Doug Martin, Chase Baker, DJ Harper, Tyrone Crawford, Shea McClellin, Nate Potter, Jarrell Root, Byron Hout, Tyler Shoemaker, Aaron Tevis, Jerrell Gavins, Hunter White, Kyle Efaw, George Iloka, Travis Stanaway, and Cedric Febis.

Don't forget to leave song suggestions in the comments (youtube link would be helpful). I might go in a different direction or may not need another song at all, but if I do and you could only choose between these two...
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

Woke Up This Morning
I’ve always been a fan of the Sopranos Theme Song…
Leonard Cohen – Woke Up This Morning
my 2 cents
I love your videos, but I hate hip hop.
Just because its not my stye
is no reason to not use it. I like what you do and whatever it ends up with it will be great cause thats how you roll.

Thx man. I'll end up using whatever grabs me and melds with the video the best. Just looking for more ideas from different points of view. Thx for the vote of confidence though :D

looking forward to it, pj.
The teaser included KM, looking not exactly perky. Kinda scared. I love the transition to hero that is bound to happen.
You don’t want my 2 cents on the music….I’d put in Climb Every Mountain :) j/k

I think you mean Good Feeling not Good times.
Check
This is a better selection than I made it.
I need a new sig, ya dig.
Yeah, I did....thx for the link
The only thing making me back off from this one is it was used by BSU in their department’s own senior highlight vid where i got a lot of my highlights. Still might use it though, b/c of the rhythm.
It’s down tempo, but I’m currently looking at John Legend’s opening and Lupe Fiasco’s first verse from their song Never forget you and then fade it out over Legend’s second chorus with a picture of a smiling kellen moore slapping hands with fans after the 2008 win in Autzen.

when i think football video
i think more like The Show Goes On than I’ll Never Forget you, just because that song is pretty…mushy? I don’t know. But obviously you know what footage you’re using and what fits best with that, you haven’t let us down on an epic BSU vid yet so keep it up!

yeah, i'll have to see how it works out. the first verse is more about where we came from and where we are now
but it does have a lot of sentimentality…John Legend may actually shift it onto the ‘kinda gay’ arena rofl.
I’m going to check out The Show Goes On and Magnanimous M@tt’s suggestion of Unkle’s Burn My Shadow right now.
I’m considering replacing Beastie Boys Sabotage with The Roots Fire as well but it’s tough to beat Sabotage’s baseline so we’ll see.
Thx for the input, really appreciate it. I used to know music really well but I’ve fallen way out of touch the past few years. These suggestions are helping to point me towards what people like these days.

Update: Really liked Show Must Go On! Especially as a partial song I can fade out and not a full one.
See that’s what I was talking about. I know that song, I’ve heard it, I like Lupe Fiasco. But I listen to music so little these days that I don’t have that info on tap so to speak. Thanks for the input, looks like this one might be the winner if I need an outro song.
FYI; Although I think The Fire is a really good tune by The Roots, Sabotage is raw energy imo so I’ll be sticking to that one for this video.

haha yeah I married a DJ
otherwise I probably wouldn’t know any band names newer than Fleetwood Mac. Getting really pumped for this video…Blood in the Water was the best BSUtube I’ve ever seen, but this looks like it’s going to be even more intense.

A song suggestion from a deaf man... so take it with a grain of salt.
Well, technically, I’m hard of hearing and I have to crank up the music so loud in order to hear it. My roommates were not pleased…
Anyway; “Burn My Shadow” from Unkle might be a good song for Kellen Moore’s stand-down with one of the teams mentioned above.
Look forward to your video!
Are you there, Matt? It's me, your conscience.

Checking into it now, tyvm for the input. I just need lots of ideas to explore new territory b/c I tapped out my own resources lol.

Your videos are outstanding, luv them,
but if your asking me, the more AC/DC, Metallica feed ins, the better. Otherwise don’t trip, do what ever it is you do, its always first class BW.
If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"
Big fan of football mixed with the "Last of the Mohicans" jam.
And any sort of epic combat music.

Thanks for the compliment hehe.
In case you were being serious and don’t actually know you’re in luck, since that’s my M.O. lol.
This video and the next are going to be done to actual songs but the vast majority of my stuff uses epic trailer music from companies like Two Steps From Hell (you can look them up on youtube). I happened to use ‘Promentory’ from Last of the Mohicans in my Georgia video.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite composers
I was thinking of the 4th movement of Sibelius’ 2nd, though. But I absolutely love SS, and I’m trying to accumulate recordings of most of his amazing pieces. Not snobs at all, kcam, just different musical interests. The only snobs here are old-timey Coors drinkers. ;-)
(Alaskan Amber is now the brew of choice, however.)

He's definitely one of my all time faves, SC
I’m a bit embarrassed to admit I discovered his genius much later than I should have. The opening movement to that 2nd concerto is utterly breathtaking.
Time is the great equalizer.
You think YOU were late
All I really knew of him were Carnival of the Animals and Danse Macabre, but then I stumbled across the 2nd Piano about three years ago, just before I retired. The opening, like you said, is at once both lyric and dramatic. Now, I can’t get enough of him, and my Walkman is loaded with SS. (But I don’t know if it would fit smashmouf footbaw.)

Probably right about him not fitting "smashmouf footbaw."
And a rec. For Camille.

Sidebar question, SC
Did you know Madeline Hsu? Long time piano instructor at BSU? Left the school in 1997 after nearly 26 years and now resides in CT. Her husband, Allen Forte, is a Yale music intructor emeritus. Reason I ask is that Mrs. kcam organized a recital last fall for her and her former students in the Morrison Center Recital hall. It was a gas. Madeline played one of her signature Chopin pieces quite well but a couple of her students’ performances were tour de force. The missus and one of her friends played a piano duet of excerpts from Le Carival des Animaux. I may be able to scrounge you up a CD/DVD if you’re interested.
Time is the great equalizer.
Of course I know her
Not personally, but she was a professor when I returned from active duty and went back to college. I’d like to be vain enough to say that she knew of me, as a theatre student, but that would probably be pushing it. A most gifted pianist.
When people ask me what I’m thankful for, I always tell them that I’m so grateful for artists such as Madeline and your wife. I play strictly for my own amusement, but I am in awe of those whose talent and virtuosity interpret the music that I can’t touch, yet that I love so much.
Come to the Spring Game Tailgate. We’ve gotta talk.

You've gotta talk. hah!
It’s only February and you’re already thirsty. (thirsty for some sonata, motet, and a sip of prelude, betcha.)

Isn't Sonata County where all the wineries are in California?
I stayed there in a motet once during a prelude in my life. Met a suite lady named Mrs. Malaprop, who gained my symphony because she was so baroque, and we all know having money is a basic requiem. It was a hot day, so I decided to lieder to a pub where we could sip a cool serenade.

Awesome!
Senior, you have done yourself proud… and Obnug, too. Etude, Brut.

Actually, it wasn't really a pub
It was a Mexican cantata, but I couldn’t remember that so late at night. I do remember that I was on my way Bach to Oratorio, Oregon. (And if you think I’m even TOUCHING the word that goes with cantata, you’re nuts!)

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (not Jesse)....
Karn Evil No. 9. It’s high tempo and the opening line is “Welcome all my friends to the show that never ends….”
That’s right sportsfans…Boise State Football ain’t going nowhere.

Gustov Holts "Planets" have some powerful themes if we're thinking Classical.
I think “Mars Bringer of War” is one of my favorite motivators. If it doesn’t give you goose bumps while your watching the Broncos highlights, I give up. Saturn has a pretty powerful set about 4 minutes in, and Jupiter has some familiar stuff they used in “The Right Stuff”, and some old NFL films docs. Anyway hope it helps. Its all on you-tube.

Uploading to Youtube now. It's 21 minutes long. I actually like it, lol, a lot of times I'm unsatisfied w/ my vids.
The only thing I wish I could have done was make a Career Stats window for the Player HUDs. Unfortunately, Broncosports doesn’t have last year’s stats included, ESPN ONLY has last year’s stats, and I wasn’t going to spend the time to add up 6 or 7 stat categories for all these players lol. There’s a little bit of jitter and skipping in some areas at the beginning due to lower resolution video as well…ah well, I do what I can with what I got hehe. My 20 yr. old brother says it’s the best vid I’ve done yet so I guess we’ll see if that opinion is pretty much universal hehe.
I’m a little nervous that the first part, recapping the big games, will seem boring to some. I feel like there’s enough going on to be very interested but the background sound is monotonous and understated and I fear some will give up on it before the regular music kicks in. I used an understated sound b/c I wanted this to feel a little bit like a dream, kind of haunting in the memories until it gets to newer memories. Hopefully, it plays out like a short movie, where ambient sound sets up the action sequences to come.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys it all the same,
Pete
