Freebie Friday: Boise State earmuffs for those special ears in your life
The weekend is nigh, which means it must be time to give away some Bronco swag. This week's freebie du jour is a pair of Boise State earmuffs from our friends at 180s. The black, logo-stitched earmuffs are perfect for wintry weather, cold gameday tailgates, or for tuning out Mark May on College Football Live.
Want to win these earmuffs? Of course you do. You don't hate your ears. The earmuffs can be yours if you leave a comment on this post regarding the Kellen Moore topic below. Simple as that. I won't even count spelling.
The topic: The NFL has released its combine invite list, and Kellen Moore is one of 19 quarterbacks who will appear in the meat market later this month. Your questions, if you choose to answer them: Which of the 19 quarterbacks would you be most disappointed to see drafted before Moore? How many of the 19 will find an NFL home before college football's all-time winningest one does?
The full list of QBs is after the jump.
- B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
- Aaron Corp, Richmond
- Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
- Austin Davis, Southern Miss
- Nick Foles, Arizona
- Robert Griffin III, Baylor
- Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois
- Jacory Harris, Miami
- Jordan Jefferson, LSU
- Case Keenum, Houston
- Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
- Andrew Luck, Stanford
- Brock Osweiler, Arizona State
- Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
- Darron Thomas, Oregon
- Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
- Russell Wilson, Wisconsin
- Patrick Witt, Yale
The contest will close on Monday, so make sure you get to the comments before then. I'll choose a random entry as the winner of the earmuffs, so a little bit of prayer / bribery might not hurt either. Good luck to you and your ears.

Moore Ear Muffs
Kellen is #1 in my heart! Oh and I have large ears that are in need of being muffed.
I just can't stand the thought.....
of any duck QB (Darron Thomas) being taken before our beloved Dork Assassin. Kellen has owned that team, and the thought of any overrated waterfowl being taken before him will force me to up my meds.

Those earmuffs were made for me, why is that u wonder? 1.) Ive been down n out w a double ear infection for the last week or so.(ouch) 2.) I love BSU football with all my heart and is on my top 3 things i think about most in a day list. 3.) To be completely 100% honest but not really that realistic…….i personally would b disappointed if ANY of the other 18 QBs got drafted b4 our Man Kellen : ) Kevan just sayin ,but those ear muffs look SOOOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable n cozy seriously. Thank u for taking time out of yr day to read this Mr.Lee, im sure whoever u choose will b the most luckiest well deserving and VERY cozy Bronco Fan. Cheers to the winner!
P.S. GO BRONCOS in the year of AK………After Kellen
There are some good QBs on that list
But, honestly, I haven’t followed most of their careers. Being pragmatic, I think that Captain Kellen will go no higher than at least half of them, and possibly in the lower third. (I certainly hope I’m wildly incorrect in that thought.) But, no matter. I believe that Kellen is mature enough to realize that all he needs is a chance to prove himself to the pros, in combat, and that whichever team he eventually ends up with will pay him a nice living wage to begin, with very healthy increases as his worth becomes more evident.
I, like many in Bronco Nation, felt sad that Ian kept bouncing around from practice team to practice team, but then I saw his compensation. Sure as heck beat mine!

Brock Osweiller has one desired trait, he’s tall. Because of that he most likely will be drafted before Kellen which burns me up. Lets pick the guy that looks like a stallion but plays like a shetland over the guy that looks like a shetland and plays like a pegasus.

I will be really dissapointed if Case Keenum is drafted before Moore.
I still think that there a few teams that are interested in Moore, going against the grain has proved to be a good idea in the past. I am calling for Moore to be drafted late 3rd round and into the 4th, especially if he has a good combine.

Too many
There will be way too many QBs that go before Kellen which I need to accept now to avoid by blood pressure rising. I guess I would like to see Seattle take a chance on Kellen whichever round that may be. I live about 50 miles north of Seattle and getting season tickets to the Seahawks is definitely something I would consider to see Kellen play on Sundays.
By my count...
At least twelve will go before Kellen. Unfortunately Russel Wilson will be one of them.
Time is the great equalizer.
You do know...
Osweiler is 6’8" don’t you?
While I do not know how many of those guys will go before Kellen I do know if i was choosing teams for one all important game, I would pick Moore to be on my team.
Comparing Kellen Moore to Jordan Jefferson……Really? That’s like comparing broadcasting abilities between Herbie and Craig James…one is consistently great…the other is just consistently an A$$..
Evaluating the field of 19 QBs invited to the combine, I would be very disappointed to see the following 3 QBs drafted before the great #11 (IMO…his jersey should be retired):
1. Jordan Jefferson (LSU) – Jefferson tops this list. You may ask, but why? He plays in the SEC…He has to be elite and a sure thing, right? Wrong. He is very athletic but doesn’t possess the necessary football IQ needed IMO for the NFL, on and off the field. Too soon? Nope, I think not. I didn’t forget that bar fight.
2. Darron Thomas (Oregon) – Sorry Phil Knight, your boy made my list. DT is good system QB for Oregon but I doubt he gets drafted ahead of a seasoned vet like KM. Beware of Vontaze Burfict being thrown out of the NFL combine for using DT as a toothpick after a great meal at one of Indy’s fine restaurants.
3. Patrick Witt (Yale) – yes the Rose Bowl was architectcturely inspired after the Yale Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut so I will give Yale its due. I mean who goes to Yale right? Apparently some presidents did…but what do I know. I heard he transferred from Nebraska to Yale. So if he is the Taylor Martinez type …look out…no chance. He has a better opportunity becoming a President than he does being picked over that cool cat…Prosser Swag.
Drum Roll….Kellen will be lucky #11 off the big board…IMO. How Ironic!
Jordan Jefferson...
I think we all remember the last athletic rushing QB to come out of LSU. Jordan Jefferson<Jamarcus Russel… and Russel was a complete and utter disappointment.

Unfortunately Too Many
We all know Andrew luck has been annointed the chosen one, and has acheived a deity status in the eyes of the scouts, that’s a given. RG3 will also go ahead of Kellen, which is disappointing, as he really has only one phenomenal season compared to Kellen’s 4. If Kellen drops to later than the third round it will be a slap to the face of not only Kellen, and the Bronco nation faithful, but it also undermines the impact he has made on college football as a whole. We should have the scouts ask Pat Hill what he thinks of Kellen. In “Blue Collar Mentality” he stated that not only can Kellen read what defensive scheme your in, he sees it so quickly and clearly, that most of the time he knows exactly where the defensive players will be and makes the adjustment in seconds. It’s a sad day when we place a higher importance on things that people have no control over (height) and discount the areas where not only does Kellen shine, but is clearly second to none. I wish Kellen the best and know that when he gets his shot (and he will) he will display the same control, anticipation, and forethought to have whichever team he leads in contention for victory whenever he steps under center.
I would be sad if.....
1. He goes lower then 3rd round.
2. If nick roles, Brock oswieler and Ryan lindley! Ryatannehill, and jacory Hollis (because Miami is just evil) go before kellen Moore
3. If he is under appreciated
Ps. I disperse the ear muffs because I need them to stand outside in the student section when football starts……like I did for all the games last year. ……..3hours early each game.

Moore will be the 10th QB Drafted - Ridiculous!
Unfortunately Kellen Moore’s Peyton Manning-esque mind and instincts will take a backseat to his average male size and he will be passed over by numerous taller abs who will be out of the league within 2-3 years because the body can only do what the mind tells it to. THe following will be drafted ahead of Moore:
Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Foles, Cousins, Osweiler, Weeden, Lindley (How terrible is that), and even the smaller Russell Wilson. Of those nine I have to say I will be most disappointed with…… well all but Luck and RG3. I must add that if and when Lindley comes off the board before Moore I will have lost all faith in the NFL scouting system.
My response
Which of the 19 quarterbacks would you be most disappointed to see drafted before Moore?
All 18…especially Jordan Jefferson (Mr. Battery charges)
Seriously though, I think the most disappointing draft pick before Kell Kell would be Jacory Harris. Why? Well, just look at his TD to INT ratio. Ridiculous. Plus Miami is filled with blasphemous bunglers.
How many of the 19 will find an NFL home before college football’s all-time winningest one does?
1. Andrew “pretty face” Luck
2. Kirk “choke” Cousins
3. Brandon “colostomy bag” Weeden
4. RG3
5. Darron “better get outta here before the NCAA finds out” Thomas
6. Russell “wonderboy” Wilson
7. Nick “no accuracy” Foles
8. “Enter prototypical QB name here”
9. Another BS pick
10. Kellen “kell kell” Moore
"1. Andrew "pretty face" Luck"
Debatable. I could go with Andrew “neck beard” Luck, though.
Time is the great equalizer.
Case freaking Keenum.
I mean, did ANYONE watch that southern miss game?! I’d take the tcu loss over that embarrassment ten times out of ten. I will never forgive him for getting a heisman nomination over our floppy haired hero. at least RG3 has the whole ‘we beat tcu who beat bsu’ thing going for him. And I am glad luck is going 1st draft so that he has to deal with all the pressure and incredibly high expectations that go with joining a losing team as some glorified being.
haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.
*Chris Petersen For President*
I expect to be pretty disappointed.
THOSE I DON’T THINK SHOULD BE DRAFTED BEFORE MOORE:
B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
Aaron Corp, Richmond
Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
Austin Davis, Southern Miss
Nick Foles, Arizona
Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois
Jacory Harris, Miami
Jordan Jefferson, LSU
Case Keenum, Houston
Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
Brock Osweiler, Arizona State
Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
Darron Thomas, Oregon
Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
Russell Wilson, Wisconsin
Patrick Witt, Yale
THOSE I THINK WILL BE DRAFTED BEFORE MOORE:
B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
Kirk Cousins, Michigan State
Nick Foles, Arizona
Robert Griffin III, Baylor
Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois
Jacory Harris, Miami
Jordan Jefferson, LSU
Case Keenum, Houston
Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
Andrew Luck, Stanford
Brock Osweiler, Arizona State
Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M
Darron Thomas, Oregon
Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
Russell Wilson, Wisconsin
I also expect to be disgusted at NFL GMs after the draft
Which of the 19 quarterbacks would you be most disappointed to see drafted before Moore?
• Brock Osweiler, Arizona State
• Darron Thomas, Oregon
• Case Keenum, Houston
• Jordan Jefferson, LSU
I can’t say for certain about any of the others. Several I think shouldn’t be drafted first likely will be, and for that I’ll be disappointed, but I’ve steeled myself already. The above list is those that would really drive me crazy.
How many of the 19 will find an NFL home before college football’s all-time winningest one does?
10, at least, ridiculously enough.

Brock Osweiler
He’s got the prototypical height, without the prototypical skill. Would be a shame to see him go before Kellen, even though he will.
Where the heck is Richmond?
And I would be absolutely ticked to have a Yale kid go ahead of Kellen (Go Harvard), if Kellen is like the Einstein of football. As mentioned above, I think RGIII, Luck, Cousins, and Russell Wilson are locks to go ahead of Kellen
How is nobody bring up the U?
Come on Jackory Harris? Mr. I.N.T himself? That will be the pick that will make me throw up in my mouth. Unless its the Raiders who chose him ahead of Saint Kellen, you can’t take any of their picks seriously.
But my real question is whats the over/under on how many GMs ask Kellen for a copy of his birth certifico? I put it between 15 and 20, and I still take the over.
Being stuck down here between the red doormat of the pac-12 and the team down south, my sig other could really use some ear warmers to tick off the neighbors.

Yep...
Jacory Harris AND Jordan Jefferson both would make me sick to my stomach to see them go before Moore. It’ll probably happen, though. That’s the sad part.

Realistically, I know A Lot of these QBs will get drafted ahead of Moore...
but with that being said, I’ll still be very disappointed if the following QBs are drafted before Moore (reason below):
1. B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
2. Aaron Corp, Richmond
3. Austin Davis, Southern Miss
4. Ryan Lindley, San Diego State
5. Patrick Witt, Yale
These are all players who came from non-traditional (i.e. not the "
big boys") schools. None of them accomplished half of what Moore did. There’s no argument you can make about facing “tougher competition week-in, week-out” with the above list.
1. Russel Wilson, Wisconsin
Why? He’s actually shorter than Moore. And less accurate. And certainly not as head smart about the game as Moore. I’m not knocking the guy at all. He was a decent QB in college and had a great year (two if you count NC State). He’s athletic. But the bottom line: you can’t use the “he’s too small” argument for Moore who is undoubtedbly the better passer of the two without making the same argument for Wilson. Period.
1. Jacory Harris, Miami
2. Jordan Jefferson, LSU
Honorabl Mention: Darron Thomas, Oregon
This is a group of athletic QBs who not only didn’t perform to expectations at the college level, but failed on the field and off as leaders. They didn’t get the job done even when given ample opportunity… and second chances.
NOTE: I only included Darron Thomas in this because, althought he DID get the job done, he’s a behavioral risk. He’s also a spread system QB. The NFL has no need for that. If you have a QB, no matter how athletic, that can ONLY pass once the run is established and defenses are keying on that, then you don’t have an NFL-caliber QB. Thomas is talented and athletic but he’s not an NFL quarterback. NFL defenses are much more adept at playing both run and pass at the same time and execute it well. Thomas will get picked apart in his passing game.
Those who will (and according to recruiting standards, probably should) get drafted above Moore (they all have at least two things in common… size and arm strength. Some of them have more):
1. Kirk Cousins, Michigan State (big school, nice size, decent passer with a little athleticism)
2. Nick Foles, Arizona (big passing conference school, he was a decent QB with faults that a lot of teams will be willing to work with him on improving)
3. Robert Griffin III, Baylor (big conference school that he almost single-handedly helped put on the map. Let’s face it, Griffin is a stud and deserved the Heisman. He’s athletic. More so, he’s comfortable and very accurate in the pocket)
4. Chandler Harnish, NIU (small school but good size and excellent athleticism)
5. Case Keenum, Houston (regardless of all the hate in Bronco Nation for Keenum, he’s still a good QB. He holds tons of major D1A records. And he has the size and arm strength)
6. Andrew Luck, Stanford (He’s NFL-ready. He’s smart. He’s deceptively athletic. He’s deadly accurate. He can run an offense without an OC. Out of this group, Luck is the most perfect package. That’s why he’ll go #1)
7. Brock Osweiler, ASU; 8. Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M; 9. Brandon Weeden, Okie State (all these guys come from big conference schools that pass a lot and they have the size and arm strength the NFL looks for. For no other reasons, that’s why they’ll go before Moore. In fact, those are the only advantages they hold over him. Moore’s better, hands down, in every other aspect of the game and the position.)

I want those earmuffs!!!!!!!!!
Question # 1: Only RG III and Andrew Luck should be drafted prior to KM. I’d be equally disappointed if any of the other yawhoos get picked before Moore.
Question # 2: Due to the NFL’s ingrown stupidity, 8 of those 19 QB’s will probably be drafted before Kellen. The other six are: Brandon W., Nick F., Kirk C., Ryan L., Brock O., and Russell W.
I won't be disappointed unless he doesn't get drafted...
People have different reasons for making decisions. I think Luck and RG3 are the only locks to be good NFL quarterbacks…And historically, most quarterbacks that get drafted don’t make it. Most of these guys will be drafted as guesses as to their potential, not what they’ve accomplished so far. That’s why they will drop Kellen Moore further down the list than guys he’s currently better than. From the perspective a confident NFL quarterback coach, I could understand why he may want a physically gifted guy he can teach how to read/anticipate/etc. over a guy who’s got all the mental side of the game down but not the arm strength to make every throw…that said, I don’t know if I’ve seen Kellen ever get intercepted because of his arm strength, and he’s played against quite a few current and future NFL d-backs.
EARMUFFS!!
They are so delightful.
Brock Osweiler better not get drafted before KM! What is more representative than a head-to-head matchup???
I think 4 QBs will be taken before Kellen. As he says, all you have to do is get 1 team to fall in love with you.
Someday I hope to look in a mirror and see something special... something like a coach pete protoge'.
Earmuff questions
I say eight 8QBs will find a home before Kellen. As for who would upset me if they get drafted before Kellen…. B.J. Coleman, Tennessee-Chattanooga
Love me some muffs.
For me it would be most depressing if that Patrick Witt clown from Yale was drafted before Kellen. Who is that guy anyways?

Yes.
How many of the 19 will find an NFL home before college football’s all-time winningest one does?
None.

for me:
anyone not from a FBS school i’d especially be disappointed in (yeah, yeah, i know if they’re talented enough, blah. still.)
and darron thomas of oregon.
i’d have to say at least 8 will get drafted before kellen moore.

All I know is...
none are better, so anybody drafted ahead of KM are being grabbed for one of the following reasons:
1. actually very good (Luck, RGIII)
2. potential – Cousins, Foles, Keenum, Harnish, Tannehill
3. size – Osweiler (some team may have a lot of stuff on a high shelf they can’t reach)
4. maturity (age) – Weeden
5. ego/short – Wilson (Napoleonic)
6. stupidity/poor performance – Harris, Jefferson (Jamarcus Russell Memorial Award)
7. really a “scat back” but I gotta get out of O – Thomas
8. give the FCS some love too – everybody not FBS
9. just throw it long, maybe somebody will run under it – Lindley
The cool thing is – Moore has crushed a number of these guys head to head, most very recently – Wilson, Weeden, Keenum, Lindley, Osweiler and Thomas.
Bronco Nation – Keep thinking bout Andy Dalton, Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker. One is good, but all got drafted very early last year. I think KM will go by the 3rd round, but only care that he is drafted.
Oh yeah, my 12 year old daugher...

I see Kellen going
higher than a lot of people think. There is no doubt that there is a clear lack of “cerebral talent” if you will in the NFL at the quarterback position. Kellen is a thinker much like Payton Manning, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers. He knows how to read a defense, he does his homework and he can move defenders with his eyes. I know there is a gm out there that will recognize his unique skills and take a chance on him. I say he is off the boards no later than 2nd round.
The most disappointing player that could be drafted before him? Keenum. I don’t think Keenum is the real deal, and it down right pisses me off that he holds a lot of records that Kellen should have right now due to the fact that Houston was not a complete team. Their defense was sub par which required Houston’s offense to be running full tilt at all times. Not to mention the fact that he has an extra six games under his belt.
The second is a tie for me between the duck and the Wilson. Wilson is the same breed as Newton or Russel. While the analysts fawned over Newton all year, they failed to really analyze his state. The guy threw a ridiculous number of int’s when the game was on the line. They are not NFL caliber passers. Oh, and I hate the ducks with every ounce of my being. No analysis necessary…
Oh…and I wear a size 3 earmuff….and my left ear is slightly wider than my right!

I don't think the Duck get picked before Kellen
In fact out of that whole list I think only about 4 or 5 will go before him. Most of them will be brought in a FAs and even if Kellen signs as a FA he will be one of the first taken because of his skills and records.
For a $35 pair of 'muffs, I'm in!
The QB I would be most upset: toss up between:
1. ASU Brock Osweiler – He looked horrible and had absolutely no control in the Vegas Bowl and his tallness is borderline dorkiness.
2. Houston Case Keenum – Yes, he racked up a lot of yards & TD’s but that was because he played forever in games (plus he had a partial extra year). As a result, a lot of talking heads put him in the same category as Kellen Moore. Not even close. I think someone did a calculation a while back about yards & TD’s by quarter played and KM blew him away.
9 … no 10 … no 9 QB’s will find a home before Kellen Moore. That is my final answer.
Colin Kaepernick
Yeah, I know he’s not a part of this class, but I can’t help but think if Kellen had left after his Jr. year (i shudder at the mere typing of those words), he would have been drafted ahead of him, and I would have been incredibly bitter otherwise. Dude had no touch whatsoever, and the mere thought of him going before Kellen, makes my blood boil (and we’re in fiction land right now guys. Imagine if this was a real possibility).
Okay, back to reality. I’d have to go with Kaepernick 2.0 Brock Osweiler. Although in this case, Brock is the Windows Vista to Kapernick’s Windows 2000.
I could not stand it
If Jacory Harris was taken before Kellen Moore. He is a turnover machine, who has repeatedly done nothing with the opportunities presented to him, and lacks the ability to create plays his feet as well. Character concerns too.

All of the above, Kellen’s numbers don’t lie… cracked me up hearing the compliments bestowed Luck all year like….has to compete with a new set of receivers…and amazing the way he’s distributes the ball to so many receivers…geez sound familiar? KM had him in every category except running the ball…Anyway been jogging this winter trying to get back in shape. I would love to warm my ears and show my colors…thx
I would be most disappointed to see Jacory Harris from Miami.
