An open letter to Chris Petersen

Dear Coach Pete,

There are few people in this great country of ours that have the know-how, the drive, the intelligence and the values that you possess. When you became the head coach at Boise State, you had huge shoes to fill and you know what? You took those shoes off, put your shoes of awesome-never-lose-iness on and haven't looked back since. You breathed life into a city wrecked by the economic crisis. You brought together people of all callings to unite under one banner. You led us to cheer and be passionate about not only a sports team, but about our city. You instilled values in not just your players, but the fans of Bronco football.

Sure, you have been courted by other "big-name" programs and time and time again, you have dismissed them. You are one of the premier coaches in all of football and a rock star at what you do. You have an entire city behind you. And, outside of those few select Vandal fans, the entire state. You have people from all over the country praising your knowledge, your passion, your drive to make us better and better. You consistently work miracles by finding talent others have simply dismissed because they "aren't big enough or fast enough or strong enough" With that said, please don't go. Don't pull a Brett Favre on us and defect to greener pastures, only to wonder what could have been. Cal may be a tempting location, but you will never find a fan base that will treat you better than right here in Boise, Idaho.

We all know it's a little tempting when big money gets flaunted in front of your nose, but if you stay here and continue this tradition of success and winning, you'll never have to pay for a meal here again. You will be giving out signatures like you are Hulk Hogan at a WWF Wrestlemania circa 1995. You will probably even get a staggering amount of presidential write-in votes. We appreciate you here in Boise and want to continue to make you feel like this is more than a home.

Sincerely,

All of Bronco Nation
