Wake up, Bronco Nation: Boise State football links and things, 1-6-12
Shea McClellin gets combine invite
That makes four as McClellin joins Kellen Moore, George Iloka and Nate Potter. Still waiting on invites for Doug Martin, Billy Winn, Chase Baker, Tyrone Crawford and Kyle Efaw you guys. Don't let me down.
Boise State steals Hawaii LB recruit Tyler Gray
Gray had signed a LOI to Hawaii last February but grey-shirted this past fall leaving him eligible to opt out of his LOI. After Hawaii lost their coaching staff, Gray was open to other schools. He was set to return to Hawaii for classes on Wednesday when coach Robert Prince called out of nowhere and offered him a full ride. He accepted even though he hasn't even visited Boise State's campus.
Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien set to become Penn State's new coach
Well that was a lengthy search and I have no clue if this will be a good hire or not. He's apparently going to stay with the Patriots through the playoffs even though recruiting is kicking up pretty quickly. That could definitely hurt Penn State in the short run.
Bruce Feldman introduces us to the coach that came up with the hottest play in football
West Virginia decimated Clemson with a quick forward pitch/shovel/volleyball/pass to a streaking guy in motion. The idea came from coach Bob Stitt from Colorado School of the Mines. It's a great read on a play that I fully expect Boise State to adapt at some point.
Craig James unveils first TV ad and it's just as bad as you'd expect
He even goes so far as to align himself with Rick Perry and wear a cowboy hat. Maybe doing that will get himself far in Texas because I'm not sure how lauding the 5th place Iowa Caucus finisher can be a good thing nationally.

i'm not going to talk politics on here.
but i hope he does well enough to get strung along, but eventually loses. then decides he’d rather stay in politics, in so far as staying OUT of being in college sports.
My QB has an AWARD named after him. How about yours?!

I dare not say his name.
i heard if you say his name three times, he adds to his already lofty total.

Alas, I only have the one rec to give....

"They're part pep rally, part freak show..." - Jim Rome, on Bronco Nation
I hope he becomes involved in a hefty political scandal
rendering him radioactive to ESPN and politics

The cynic in me sez...
Observing some of the political scandals I’ve watched over many, many years, there is no such thing as becoming “radioactive.” Not even the infamous “live boy, dead girl” dictum can push some of these schmucks out of office anymore.
The battle for hierarchy is more intense the lower the class.
I think its the other way around
His ego could not take being fired by ESPN for incompetence, so he invented a reason to move on. He has absolutely no chance to be elected, but its all about networking and finding somebody, anybody who likes you. Perhaps he wants to coach or something :0.
I bet Craig doesn't get much of the Texas Tech alumni vote
Considering he chased away the best coach they’ve ever had.
re: the hottest play
The last line says something to the effect that if the slot defender doesn’t cover, the qb throws “the bubble”. I understood most of the article, but “the bubble” didn’t make it into my brain. Is that just another way of saying volleyball pass, or quick pass out of shotgun to the man in motion? (and a duh question…doesn’t/didn’t Kellen throw that same quick pass to his receivers or am I confusing the running back with the tight end?)
"Grateful to the friends and the circumstances that enabled me to be a Bronco. I'm just glad I lived to see these days." SeniorChief
I just got out of Therapy, and I feel better! I'm over Craig James?

I post this picture on the freezer door since my therapist reminded me to give up Blue Haagen Dazs ice cream, stop microwaving frozen taquitos incessantly, and Look at Craig James when I want to open the freezer door. Its been 3 hours and so far it works. Craig James and my therapist has saved me from myself. No more lame Craig James jokes on OBNUG during 2012, no matter if he wins the US Senate. I wish Craig and his family well for 2012. Hey this stuff really works, I feel better!
The only thing the BCS has to fear is fear itself and Blue is the color of fear.
Nate Potter
OK, why in the world would a consensus AA not get invited to any of the college All star games? Perhaps the Senior Bowl could not justify taking 5 players from one team so left Nate off? Glad he got a Combine invite – a no brainer.
