Prelude video for First Annual OBNUG Offseason Tailgate

Okay, so I'm not sure how to get this in on a Fanshot. I threw this together for advertising purposes. This was, imo, a brilliant idea that SeniorChief dreamed up and I wanted to help boost participation if I could. The event seems to have quite a bit of support and excitement already. I should be able to make it but if I can't I hope this serves as some kind of contribution. Maybe we can do this again in the summer after spring practices have taken place and healthy sparring with MSU fans has begun.

This vid's nothing real special, a fast editing job compared to my normal efforts. I hope you all enjoy it and we have a great First Annual OBNUG Offseason Tailgate with terrific conversations on the many topics at hand here at Boise St. Perhaps a few of us <cough, me, cough> can even learn a thing or two about some other sports so I can at least have the pulse of how we are doing there.

Whew, hopefully that's enough words to bow out...

here ya go

pj...this is so Fantastic!

“I’ve got more records than the KGB” while looking at the back of Moore’s jersey… the ka-ching of money as the guys make the touchdowns…Dougie running wild on the field clear into the endzone fade out…so many cool tie-ins…I believe the k-aching sounds when you start in with the Big East pictures & NYcity are perfect, too. So many awesome touches. And this old fogey even likes the music. Well Done!

Than you very much

The cash register ka-ching sounds are an actual part of the song. Anytime I use actual songs (as opposed to the symphonic stuff I normally use) I try to pick songs that reflect some aspect of Boise St. for me.

This Song is called Paper Airplanes by the Indian pop artist MIA. It is the headline song for a really good movie called ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which is a sort of rags to riches story. The song lyrics kind of reflect that same them some and so does Boise St…the ability and guts to make it on merit alone despite not having the bloodlines or being born with a silver spoon in your mouth. I love the ‘more records than the KGB’ line too, that was just too good to pass up.

Thanks for your comments and ditto to everyone else. It’s always nice to see what people appreciate from something you created, it’s just a fun sense of community kind of thing I guess.

Hope to see you all Friday :)

hah! Your announcement isn’t “just a post”, it is artwork, history, drama…all rolled into one Awesome Fanpost. If I had done it, it would have been a black and white fanshot; date, place, time. No Nada.

I appreciate you trying to share the credit with me, but SenorChef, you get all the accolades. And if it turns out to be a brawl or bust, guess who gets all the raspberries? :)

Thanks so much, Red

Thought I might swing by Thursday to get the lay of the land. If we have more than that number, we’ll end up being somewhat dispersed—make that a “spread offense”—but that’s okay. If we’re loud and obnoxious enough, those nearby will move away and we’ll have more room. (Kidding! We’ll be quiet and demure, of course, as befitting a Nation of our stature.)

Thanks HSridge, unfortunately I don't have an iphone w/ the high res video

or a video camera of my own. I keep intending to get one and just haven’t done it yet. If other people take video though, and then upload onto a youtube channel they made, I can download it from youtube if they give me the link.

At the worst, if we can get several pics taken and posted to OBNUG, I can incorporate those into future videos I’m sure.

by boiseblues on Feb 1, 2012 4:40 PM PST reply actions

yeah lol. I'm more artist than technician when it comes to this.

I don’t make videos when I don’t feel up to it, which is the #1 reason you guys have yet to see an end of year recap video from me the past 2 years. When I make videos, I never know how they will turn out. I have some vague concept for a theme or general idea, and then I start throwing video clips on the timeline like a painter throwing colors on a canvas. I find a bunch of songs I like and then search for the one that feels like it belongs to this video if that makes any sense to you. After that, things start to take shape and I get a more clear vision of what I want to do with it.

So the upshot is, when I get the inspiration, it’s time to go to work. There’s not a whole lot that will stop me b/c I WANT to do it more than I want to watch a movie or go to sleep or something. This one stil took 5.5 hours, start to finish, but it was pretty straight forward and easy.

Hey, everyone

I swung by the Ram today on my walk and talked with Carlos. We have a corner of the bar area, so turn to your right as you come in the front door. Ask for the OBNUG group. The corner has a couple of large booths and some high tables. I’ll be there sometime after 5 p.m. to stake it out.

See you all tomorrow. Remember, bring a bag to put over your head if you don’t want your picture taken (and maybe posted on this blog).

Reflectivity, if you’re bringing your iPad, does that mean you’ll be taking notes? Someone ought to write a review for our worldwide audience. Knowing pJohn, there’ll probably be a video which will end up being nominated for an Oscar.

Sure, I can do a write up.

Notes would probably be a good call since I’m sure my memory will decay at the same rate as the beer is poured.

There are tentative plans to hold another event post Spring Game in April I believe. We’ll know more as we get closer I’m sure.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to the next one and meeting more Nuggies. Great event Boiseblues and Seniorchief, thanks for putting it all together.

What a fantastic time!

To Bob, Sue, Pete, Doug, Eileen, Tami, Aric, and Padre (who participated from Riverside, CA!), I can’t begin to tell you how much fun it was tonight! As pjohn56 said (preserving his handle, of course), we’ll do it again, maybe a couple of times prior to August 31. Look for an actual tailgate (Ram?) at the Spring Game.

I’m sorry to say that those who couldn’t make it missed a delightful evening. So neat to put names and faces to all those posts. I LIKE you people. Stay tuned for pix, astro. We’ll create a separate post for them, as soon as we write our reviews.
