Prelude video for First Annual OBNUG Offseason Tailgate

The cash register ka-ching sounds are an actual part of the song. Anytime I use actual songs (as opposed to the symphonic stuff I normally use) I try to pick songs that reflect some aspect of Boise St. for me.

This Song is called Paper Airplanes by the Indian pop artist MIA. It is the headline song for a really good movie called ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which is a sort of rags to riches story. The song lyrics kind of reflect that same them some and so does Boise St…the ability and guts to make it on merit alone despite not having the bloodlines or being born with a silver spoon in your mouth. I love the ‘more records than the KGB’ line too, that was just too good to pass up.

Thanks for your comments and ditto to everyone else. It’s always nice to see what people appreciate from something you created, it’s just a fun sense of community kind of thing I guess.

hah! Your announcement isn’t “just a post”, it is artwork, history, drama…all rolled into one Awesome Fanpost. If I had done it, it would have been a black and white fanshot; date, place, time. No Nada.

I appreciate you trying to share the credit with me, but SenorChef, you get all the accolades. And if it turns out to be a brawl or bust, guess who gets all the raspberries? :)

or a video camera of my own. I keep intending to get one and just haven’t done it yet. If other people take video though, and then upload onto a youtube channel they made, I can download it from youtube if they give me the link.

At the worst, if we can get several pics taken and posted to OBNUG, I can incorporate those into future videos I’m sure.

but there might be a short video, centered on our latest recruiting class, coming out in the coming months.

Remind me, fellow ‘gaters. Actually, this could become quite the drinking game, if we toast every one of our Nuggies who can’t make it. Call me a cab!

I don’t make videos when I don’t feel up to it, which is the #1 reason you guys have yet to see an end of year recap video from me the past 2 years. When I make videos, I never know how they will turn out. I have some vague concept for a theme or general idea, and then I start throwing video clips on the timeline like a painter throwing colors on a canvas. I find a bunch of songs I like and then search for the one that feels like it belongs to this video if that makes any sense to you. After that, things start to take shape and I get a more clear vision of what I want to do with it.

So the upshot is, when I get the inspiration, it’s time to go to work. There’s not a whole lot that will stop me b/c I WANT to do it more than I want to watch a movie or go to sleep or something. This one stil took 5.5 hours, start to finish, but it was pretty straight forward and easy.

Notes would probably be a good call since I’m sure my memory will decay at the same rate as the beer is poured.

But if others capture video and upload it somewhere, I have software that will download it from the web if they give me the links.

To Bob, Sue, Pete, Doug, Eileen, Tami, Aric, and Padre (who participated from Riverside, CA!), I can’t begin to tell you how much fun it was tonight! As pjohn56 said (preserving his handle, of course), we’ll do it again, maybe a couple of times prior to August 31. Look for an actual tailgate (Ram?) at the Spring Game.

I’m sorry to say that those who couldn’t make it missed a delightful evening. So neat to put names and faces to all those posts. I LIKE you people. Stay tuned for pix, astro. We’ll create a separate post for them, as soon as we write our reviews.

Aric, Sue and I had a great time! It is nice to put faces with handles (even though I fogot mine! TkdBob rather than KarateBob – hey I’m old…)

Look forward to the season and another OBNUG event.

But that was fun meeting Obnugites and seeing Senior’s cool shirt/bandana/yearbooks. We do need to make this a regular event.
