cool.

makes sense though. i hope their recruiting doesn’t extend beyond the fit.

Trick plays? Still?

Imagine if he had actually thrown it near a receiver!

I remember thinking...

what is this? He was set up about two steps farther than a shotgun, but not deep enough for a punt. Brilliant. ASU was clueless, as usual.

Pete's got it right

As I said here so long ago, isn’t it the WHOLE IDEA of an offense to “trick” the defense? Otherwise, an offensive team ought to just line up, politely and clearly tell the defense which direction the ball is going and who is going to carry it, and then let athleticism and pure strength determine the outcome.

My favorite quote was...
I don’t think it would automatically make them a better team. They’d have to start dealing with the various complexities and egos that if they’re not handled right can derail chemistry. They almost need two- and three-star players to continue being who they are.

Hard work beats talent time and time again.

Our Potential Draftees:
Doug Martin (2 star recruit)
Kellen Moore (4-star/3-star)
Nate Potter (2-star/unranked)
George Iloka (2-star/unranked)
Billy Winn (3-star)
Tyrone Crawford (4-star Juco/Unranked HS)
Shea McClellen (2-star/unranked)

Deayon is 5'9"-5'10"

Nowhere can I find him listed at shorter than 5’9", about the average size for a CB.

He's a Stud. Right now he's a really small stud.

Boise State picked up its third Cornerback commitment, this one from Fontana (Calif.) Summit HS Donte Deayon (5’8 155). Deayon, who had an offer from San Diego State, had 10 interceptions as a Junior. He joins Loyola’s Chaz Anderson and Cosumnes Oaks’ Marcus Rios as 2012 Cornerbacks from California committed to Boise State.

I personally think Rios would have been a Childs and Scandrick.

In the article it hints at what I believe, we need to continue with the overlooked guys. And then look for the high character OKG’s that may be 4 or 5 stars (not likely). Otherwise I think we’ll lose who we are. Just my two cents.

It's possible but remember what we were reading about Rios

when he was with us…he was a mentor and responsible role model. I think it’s just as likely he stayed close to home for family reasons.

I got np w/ his decommit, it’ll happen more often in the future. We’ll just roll on like we have before.

Dawgs agree

After his pick they stayed away from #4. He had 3 picks in his first 3 games, then got hurt. Goodness know what he would have accomplished and what the team could have done, starting with not losing to TCU. It was a gigantic hole and the single worst injury we had last year. Jamar’s was next worse, but he came back and kicked bahookie. Next year they start out together again, older and wiser, and better. Am starting the prayer circle early to keep them injury free :)

by HSridge on Jan 30, 2012 12:40 PM PST up reply actions

I try to learn at least one new word every day.

“bahookie.” It’s not in my Webster’s, my Roget’s, or my OED. (But I have the 1971 edition, when I was a student. How I afforded it at the time, I don’t remember. Must have given up beer for a few weeks. A LOT of weeks.). But I did find it in the Urban Dictionary, and there’s an online reference to the Concise OED (2008). Evidently it’s Scottish in origin. Thanks. Never heard it before.

He was.

And in my opinion, the reason why we didn’t go undefeated. In fact when he went down, I told my friend not to be surprised if we lost due his injury. TCU. Gavins is that solid. He does everything right. Trusts his instinct and never bits on pumps fakes. Ok, maybe he has, but I’ve never seen it. He stays with his receiver and waits for our guys to yell, ‘BALL’ and does a great job tracking it down once he turns around. True shut down corner. I believe he is going to be the best Corner coming out of Boise In the next level. Call me stupid, but I think he is better then Wilson was. And I know, he only played so many games. But his technique is flawless. Very, very impressed from what I’ve seen.

Mandel almost stated the obvious...

on the 4 and 5 star recruits going to the big programs. I call it the Wade Boggs (famous forever teenager) syndrome – if you are told all your life you are the best (5 star) at 17-18 years old you start to believe it, and maturity doesn’t need to be part of your resume. When you find out that Boise State is team first, and its all about the whole man, not just football, its not what you are used to hearing.

We don’t want those guys. But we like to make them look bad (Georgia’s RB comes to mind).

The Marines do the same thing, just a lot more name calling :)

by HSridge on Jan 30, 2012 12:51 PM PST reply actions

Yeah, I dig that too...no ego, just results.

The announcers call the wrong names for the wrong positions, they mispronounce the names, they quote trivia info about various players that aren’t true, but something they get right every time is the score at the end of that game.

You know something funny?

My daughter was able to attend the first (2007) Fiesta Bowl, and she brought me a T-shirt which she bought immediately after the game that night. It contains the final score. Anyone who has one will tell you that, as you read the shirt, Oklahoma’s name and score (42) is on the left, the traditional slot for the victor, and Boise’s name and score (43) is on the right. It appears to me that the silk screens had been prepared prior to the end of the game, and it was too late to switch the names around.

At least they got the score right.

Thats pretty cool.

I wish I had bought the same shirt. Thats a collectable. I was to busy running around. Screaming BOISE STATE!!!! With no voice. It gave out mid-game. Now that I think about it. I should have stopped and hugged Ryan Dinwiddy. Haha, Im sure he wouldn’t of minded me doing so. We were all Lost in the moment.

Ryan Dinwiddie was there?

Was he being honored or something? How’d I miss that. My blue turf ornaments/doormats/coasters are made from “Dinwiddie” turf. I’m glad he’s doing well…Canadian still?

He was only there to watch History. He was sitting 6 rows directly up from me. We were sitting right where the players came out on to the field, left of the BSU band. OMG, i misspelled his name. Do you know how bad I’m feeling right now? He’s my favorite Bronco besides Kellen. Wow, what a fan I am.
