2 more commits today according to Scout.com. Mario Yakoo, above, is a UCLA de-commit and teammate of S recruit Chanceller James. He is a simply enormous (6'4" 320 lb.) OG. Joining him in the weekend roundup is 6'4" 235 lb. DE Darien Barrett out of Inglewood. Nice pick ups.

Methinks UCLA hurt themselves
Trying so publicly (and poorly) to get Coach Pete. the commits agreed, and since they can get Coach Pete to come to them, they will go to Coach Pete :)

Can anyone even imagine us getting this kind of recruit a few years ago?
320 lbs? Yikes.

I'm loving it
Boy as a former UCLA fan this is sweet. That that Coach Jim.
How come a former fan?
Just curious.
My QB has an AWARD named after him. How about yours?!

Watching video on Barrett
He does an excellent job at using his arms to engage the OT, keeping contain, and using his hands to disengage from the block to make the tackle. Much better job than, say, the Sam McCaskill kid who was also in town this week.

Bring on the Big Guys for us Small Town School
Amazing how the country’s underdog school is now getting some big time players. With 5 players at the Senior Bowl, you could not miss seeing those shiny BLUE helmets flying all over the place. Now we are seen…and others want to join the team that gets seen.
Way to go BSU.
Yeah, those helmets really stood out and looked very good too imo. A lot more lively than the other helmets and it left no doubt who the school was they had come from

I'll tell you
I loved UCLA for over 30 years but the last 8 years have been brutal. I drank the Rick N Koolaid the first two years, but watching poor coaching team giving up late in games, blowing out Norm, and a total lack of QB improvement, did it. I was following the Broncos since 91 and my step daughter moved to Kuna, and then became a BSU student so it was natural. BTW I was a fan before she was, and she knows both Kellen, Kirby, and Doug.
I don’t know how anyone who really loves college football can not like what Coach Pete has done with this program. It’s everything UCLA is not.
A little like my onw story.
I grew up moving place to place, never stayed anywhere longer than four years. My family was mostly NFL types and I was a 5th generation Dallas Cowboys fan so that was pretty constant. I didn’t get into CFB until I was about 14, entering HS in Florida where I chose Bobby Bowden’s class act and the Florida St. Seminoles over Jimmy Johnson’s brash act and the Miami Hurricanes.
I rooted for FSU for four solid years and maintained my fandom of them when I left home for the USAF. But there were no real ties. I didn’t live there anymore, had lost touch with the pulse of the program, ran into very few other FSU fans as most ppl I ran into were NFL fans. Eight years later, most of which was in Europe where it’s all but impossible to keep up with a college team, I landed in Mountain Home. For the next six or seven years I kept minimal tabs on FSU while mostly following Dallas. I had totally lost touch with the program, I didn’t know who played there anymore for the most part, I knew things weren’t good for Bobby and the program was stuck in the doldrums. When a program gets stuck it loses relevancy, and when it loses relevancy it’s not talked about nationally, and when it’s not talked about nationally it is really really hard for out of region fans to stay connected.
By the time I moved into the National Guard I had really lost touch with CFB as a whole. The Guard was different though. Rather than being surrounded by people who weren’t from Idaho, didn’t want to be in Idaho, and were actively trying to get out of Idaho, I was surrounded by people who were born here or had moved here and wanted to stay…and EVERYONE was a fan of this small scale, small time, blue field bunch of would-be usurpers that I found utterly ridiculous. It took 2 years of near daily debate with some guys that know football pretty good for me to become convinced but once they turned the corner for me and I was able to start looking with unbiased eyes I saw a program that was built on all the things I loved about Bowden’s old FSU program. A high character place that defied the odds and could play with anyone. A team that was on the edge of innovation just like all three of the major Florida programs were at the time I started watching. Suddenly, I was connected again, CFB was relevant to me again, and I had a team to root for that was built on principals I could rally around. While kids at Florida St. were getting busted for check scams and booked for beating their girlfriends, Boise St. players were crunching film and keeping their grades up.

I was going to reply about how Skipit's story was similar to mine...
But after that any crap post that I could muster would just sound stupid.

all stories of coming to Bronco Nation are good :)
Me, I’m just a lifelong Boise resident who grew up with the team and doesn’t really identify with any other teams. It’s nice to see everyone who’s come around and say ‘welcome to the party!’

I'm kind of the opposite of this
I grew up as a BSU fan in the 1980s, both football and basketball (I still yearn for the Bobby Dye years)…during the 1990s, I began losing interest in the team (actually, I lost interest in sports in general) and got to the point where I was only marginally aware of the team. I moved to NY in 1996 and remain here today. I had gotten back into sports again when I moved out here…partially due to the Yankees and the great NY sports culture, but probably mostly because I was past my adolescent angst. Then I was watching ESPN one day, and lo and behold! Dinwiddie was sticking it to nationally ranked Fresno State!
That’s all it took…I was back in the BSU fold, this time to stay. Now, if only the b-ball team could get hook me again…

Wow
Isn’t this the biggest guy we have ever recruited?
Clady?
He’s 6’6" 315 now but he may have weighed more back in the day. Probably weighed less but sometimes guys slim down a bit in the NFL.
Check out their highlight videos
Here is Mario’s: LINK. I love watching the big uglies. I could see our stable of RBs running behind this guy. Nice!
Here is Darien’s: LINK. He is a bit light for a DE, kind of like Khyree Marshall. The kid also played a little TE so he may be the next Shea McClellin (move him all over the field). He went to the USC Nike Camp this past year and showed both speed and power (LINK). It almost wasn’t fair that he competed with all the big uglies. They couldn’t handle his speed.

Barret is a bit light at 235 lbs just coming into the program?
Kharyee Marshell was 192 lbs when he joined.
Jarrell Root was 225 lbs….
Shea McClellin was 228 lbs….
Nick Schlekeway was 230 lbs….
I couldn’t find anything on Winterswyk as he was a walk on but I’d imagine he was below Barret’s weight as he was playing safety in high school.
Nice videos, Thanks
4-3, 3-4 end/backer
The only thing the BCS has to fear, is fear itself, and Blue is the color of fear.
I really, really like how this class is shaping up
considering about 3/4 of this class is 3-star recruits, I’d say we are heading up the ranks pretty well! it’s awesome to see our success on the field translating into bigger, better, faster recruits. I can’t wait to see these kids on the Blue!
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34
These guys are HUGE
With the experience in the o-line and insane amounts of talent and depth coming up at RB, it seems like we’ll transition into the future as a run-first team while we break in a new qb and get ready for the Big East. I am so stoked!

Based on that picture of Mario he does not look like a "kid" coming out of high school.
Holy cow, he looks like an NFL lineman. I officially dub him the nickanmes of “the bouncer” or “the body gaurd”.
