Understanding 1 n all, From Local espn BSU cfb Blogger Rojer43
OK, _ I Admit, I am Trying to adapt to the warm confines for BSU fans here on OnbuG. I have been on here sparingly this year but hope to enjoy this Great Blog w/U'all over time. I am not used to being in a BSU friendly enviroment, so I will do my best to try and not 'abuse' the Administrators too much, - from now on, - maybe.
Please Understand, When I am on here from now on, I am trying to find the "Kinder, less Sarcastic" me as I come from 6 years of ESPN cfb blogging and defending BSU bashing. Yes, abused we were as National BSU bloggers but in General now, the Nation Respects BSU waaay more than it did 2 years ago. Sooo much so that I was thinking of opening a Dominatrix business in the area so that those of us who were used to so much past verbal abuse could have a place to go to be verbally abused again. Maybe espn abuse bacame addictive, I dont know, lol. I am glad though most of it has passed away now. (or as much as 1 could hope for, as Little Boise is Big time now)
To those who know me on here - Howdy, - To THOSE who dont = Always take me light hearted, I havent really connected the ESPN bloggers w/Bsu Onbug bloggers yet. Maybe U could lend me a thread to who U are if U blog on ESPN (screen name) - it helps my answers alot ; ") or write me at rojer43@msn.com (yes, I own rojer 43, lol) Or just let me dangle and guess over time, either angle is cool with me.
My POINT is once in a while U may need to calm me down and remind me, I'm not on Espn at the moment, We are family here, lol.
I do realize alot of BSU fans Hate ESPN, FOX ect, I dont really like em all either But I do wish to remind U that, and especially if U are younger. = To further bring our Beloved Bronco's world wide attention, respect, Players and coaches - that are SO essential for the Growth of our team, relies on Politics at a National level. Yes. politics may be confusing and suck but it is the way of Wisdom to Better BSU, and doing it in any way that we All can greatly helps.
National blogging 'politics' to me means Being a great communicator (even if its bull), Spread the love world wide, and dont take being walked over. Be the hook, not the fish. All this with low emotional output can still be quite fun. If it doesnt come to me, I go to it, lol, So Hello and Howdy from me, the new Roj. I look forward to growing old with ya'all. ; ")
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

PS from Roj.
OK, OK, – I know I have to show up everyday or 2 from now on, answering post to my blogs a month later really aint cool, i know – I will do better – maybe – if the lord is willin and the creek dont rise. Unless “Charlie Babbit” come on at 6 pm, ya, Charlie Babbit.
Roj, I like your spirit & energy.
Trying to spread BSU goodwill nationally ( if that’s what your trying to do) is an energetic endeavor.
The school itself has, and continues to make huge strides in that direction. You also have probably noticed that the coaching staff is very seldom frazzled by the opinion of others, and chooses to handle things in a calm & professional way, and let their work, & the players efforts do the talking on the field. What you will find here at OBNUG is a strong commitment and appreciation for the integrity that Coach Pete has instilled in this football program. OBNUG, in its collective state of mind, mirrors this integrity in the most eloquent way.
I too am highly spirited & political, and would love nothing more than to help effect some change, in this seriously corrupted CFB system. However, I found that my opinion, no matter how passionate I was about it, was not getting the respect I so desired. So at first, I too was frustrated as you seem to be. I begin to wonder why nobody responded to my ideas.
Then it dawned on me, that I needed to learn more about everybody on here, before I flamboyantly through my ideas & opinions at them. Then something really weird happened. I found out I didn’t know squat about blogging, and came to the conclusion that I had formed some really bad habits.
The really neat thing about that is, if I wouldn’t have stopped to learn what makes the Nuggies tick, I’d still have all those bad habits. I’m far from where I eventually want to be as a Nuggie, but I continue to learn from everybody, every time I’m on here. I have been all over the place, and although I am finding a handful of polite forums, “NON” of them come close to OBNUG.
That might sound biased, coming from a Bronco fan, but I can assure you that it isn’t. This is the best sight, and as a Bronco fan I am truly blessed.
So with all that said, IMHO (which doesn’t mean BW), I suggest that before you start questioning OBNUG, learn about it, and from it, practice, and if your lucky, you too will become a Nuggie. This IMHO, will only strengthen your efforts to be heard in a positive way, and help your persuasive endeavors to be more accepting.
If anything I have said has helped you in any way, then my intention, and effort here as a Nuggie, has not been in vain. If I have rubbed you the wrong way, then obviously I need a lot more practice, or your a troll (which as a fellow Bronco fan would be virtually impossible) kidding (-;
I look forward to more blogfesting with you (in this hibernation state a lot of us will be in for a while) your quite an interesting chap. And oh, by the way, the spell check is in the right click.

Well, AllRight!
We waited with bated breath, and you did not disappoint. Very well said, astro. Polite, informative, and very Nuggie. :) Rec!
(I guess if I can write the word Tweet, I can write Nuggie…but it ain’t easy.)
When you have time, would you consider writing what those blogging bad habits were? That would help, knowing some sort of bounds/protocol…

bb, thank you.
I went back into the archives to look for old post of mine, and sorry, I got caught up into the very beginning of this site. What I found was IMO amazing. Unless I’m reading it wrong, or it doesn’t show any more, Kevan wrote thousands of really great articles, with hardly any comments from any body for the better part of that 2008, 1 loss year. Before Kellen even won the QB battle, Kevan was already personally anointing him “the” next 4 year QB (With emotion no less) while the rest of the media was choosing Hamdan. Drew and Nick obviously jumped in and helped, but holy smokes, am I impressed with his diligence. He had more patience than Christopher Columbus. Never missed a beat, never wavered, just banged out 4-5 quality post a day for the better part of a year before it took off. It was nothing like it is today (membership) but they were doing the same stuff back then. I don’t know if a lot of current posters have gone back and read some of those original post, but if they haven’t, its a real treat. One of my favorite finds was the Quack/OBNUG back & forth before that first Oregon game, when Kellen was brand new.
bb, you however have one of the best post ever “DD Victoria’s secret”, awesome! You have a really likable writing style. IMHO

Wow! To have so few comments would be like writing in a diary. Kevan’s talents and humor are a rare combination…but who knows how many people were enjoying his writing without letting him know. I am so glad he didn’t give up. We are singing his praises now! And Drew’s and Nick’s, too. Great guys.

Its kind of like being an archeologist,
“Recovered from the ancient scrolls found in the OBNUG discovery site, were 3 names that that must be tied to some brave pioneers, who originally showed adventuresome resolve, and were amongst the first to comment, against all odds, on OBNUG. The names:
Belexes
Cexeko
Broncofeverforever
have been brought forth, surviving through the “100 days troll war” and constant attacks from far off & neighboring AQ(big boy) tribes, to help many generations of Nuggies form what is now the premier CFB blog site. More diligent searches are sure to discover more names, or possibly connect ancient names with present day posters.

You seem to be right on Bff, nothing of recent.
Bff will have to be moved over to the connect ancient/present name category. Thank you for your input bb.
Funny, while I was looking in some of the heavy commented post, I ran across a heated exchange after the TCU game. Guess who (not surprised) was there to break it up? Hmmm. (-;

I'm a part time forum warrior. I go to articles linked here and if I find a comment
that is utterly ridiculous in its infantile assumption, I will sometimes join that blog and make a rebuttal. I keep the same handle of pjohn56 from Youtube, to OBNUG, to ESPN, to the Birmingham Gazette. Wherever I go, I use the same name as I believe I am right and have no reason to hide behind anonymity. If I am wrong, I have no trouble conceding that either.
I have never been to the BSU blog on ESPN and don’t even know how to navigate there. I comment on the articles listed on their CFB page if it is BSU related.
I absolutely agree with you that there is a massive and singular trend of how people talk about BSU over the past, I’d say 3-5 years. Every year the excuses are different as BSU shatters their flimsy theories. Every year there are fewer and fewer voices of dissent and more and more voices of support or at least honest recognition. Also, the dissenters have grown softer in their condescension while the supporters have grown bolder. It is like any war, viewed from an eagle’s eye perspective, it is easy to see which direction the ‘front’ is moving and WHO is winning the war.
I once told a heckler that BSU didn’t care what he thought of them. The people who know what they are talking about though; the coaches, the players, the voters, the analysts even…these people spoke highly of BSU. Frank Beamer, Steve Spurrier, Chip Kelly, and Mark Richt might know a few more things about this game than he does. But BSU doesn’t care what they think either. The people Boise St. cares about are those 14-16 year old kids talking college football at the cafeteria table…the kids that are future players…the ones who, if they know nothing else about Boise St., they know about the Blue Turf…and this is the demographic that is steadily climbing aboard BSU’s train. This guy could spout all the hatred he wanted. He could name every old standard of program success, the recruits, the brand name, the money, that he liked and that BSU had already debunked. It wouldn’t change a thing. Boise St. had achieved in 15 years of Div I football more than Arizona St. had in over 100, you don’t make those kind of waves without someone taking notice. Boise St. is a freight train, the younger generation likes what they see, and there’s not a thing he can do about it no matter how hard he tries. I told him when he was finished being terrified of BSU’s astronomical potential and was ready to simply enjoy watching some really good football, that there was a seat on the train I was saving for him.

ESPN CFB help
PJ< U and all others may go to http://espn.go.com/college-football/ and on the top right hand corner (I believe) it will ask U to sign in – its easy, Make a profile, select what ever info U want to let people know about U, An Avatar and a Screen Name = Like on Here, lol. XCEPT ESPN Blogging is “Farcebook” Style and “live” this year – it auto refreshs every few seconds and YES it can be slow at Times as ESPN Always need more servers, Nonetheless U can acess it trough facebook if U wish.
If U Do go there, U are welcome to Join 2 groups I administer on cfb.
1 is “BOISEE STAAATE” !! at http://groups.sportsnation.espn.go.com/groups/16406 AND the other is a New NATIONAL Group, non-team affiliated RIP BCS group that is Demanding change to the BCS at http://groups.sportsnation.espn.go.com/groups/23670
The BSU Group is a year Old and has a very Nationally Diverse profile of members, now around 116+ and growing. Both Groups could gladly use some OnBug Bronco support, No effort is required, just join if that is all U wish, lol. The ESPN staff Knows my wrath of kindness ; ") BSU Bloggers take care of their own on ESPN. I have made many loyal friends.
I notice U and others Nationally are moving away from the term “Smurf Turg” to BLUE Turf, = its the New Wave of Respect for Boise and it has changed alot the last 18 months, – thx for the comment PJ
PS x 2
ESPN BSU Blogs in off season are slow, Just look for a story on or about BSU. During the season we banter with the next team we play and or whoever we wish to go visit, Sometimes we have to go fish then run back home, lol, Definitly the slow season for espn bloggers “Boise” wise. But Yet theres a whole Nation to go out and investigate that readily accepts Bronco fans now (Yes, even the SEC) as long as u arent a total dork – But as U know All teams and Forums have their share of Dimwits, Dorks and Playful kids = life happens.

Most comments are infantile and low brow. Most reasonings and logic used in those places for arguments shouldn’t be called such.

Good advice
I confess to finding comfort in OBNUG, and I’d like to keep it that way. ESPN, the Idaho Statesman, and other sites roil the blood with their nasty (inebriated?), sarcastic, hurtful, stupid comments, and many of their posters are simply challenged in basic English composition and comprehension.
OBNUG’s standard, according to Kevan’s statement above, is to provide “relevant BSU news, mature BSU perspective, and biased BSU commentary with wit, reason, timeliness, and irreverence.” I find it refreshing. If it changes—if the standard is lowered—I will go away.
Friendly advice to Roj—don’t “abuse the Administrators” at all. Nuggies happen to think very highly of them, and will declare war on anyone who dares to squint crosseyed in their direction.

SeniorChief, please do not even imply of your departure.
If you don’t know by now, and I believe I won’t get any argument when I say, you are one of the very elite, and most respected posters at OBNUG, and the mere thought of you leaving this site due to the acceptance of unruly comments of others, would not only “roil” our blood (love that word, thank you ;-) but would surely cause a mutiny amongst the Nuggies. Our blogger brooms would fly into action, and an immediate cleanup would ensue.
Besides, more importantly, you can’t leave, I’m looking forward to having a beer with you someday. I just happened to have access to The Russian River Brewery. Did you know it has connections to the Korbel Winery?

OK then
So U survived communism, racism vietnam 2 gulf wars ect, ect, but now cant venture away from the saftey of home? – Your Attitude is similar to alot of Boise fans, they like the warm confines of a local group but use the words “wont support because” – That is Normal, as here at OnBug its entertainment – out there – is the “Real World”.
AS I mentioned above = Politics = Use the National programs to Benifit us. Just like TV we dont have to watch what we dont. Actually I am thinking of checking out the NFL Network for blogging too, as in this way we can move the Name BOISE STATE up onto the NFL level of potential recruiting excitement = My job as a fan is to get the Name ‘Boise – State – Broncos’ and or all 3 words mentioned more World Wide. U Did notice we Just recruite a guy from the UK yes, ?
All of us have our own BSU goals Belexes, (I respect your opinion and rights to do as ya wish man and THX for the comment) can be a Political statement, not really true maybe but yet makes U feel respected and as a personal individual unit, not just a -F-U or yad yada, ect, – that wins no one over; – but U see how politics work, lol. PS, Even “GUMP” said Caint never did Nothing, and he was from the SEC ! I think we all are a bit wiser up this way, roj.
YET
I AM in NO WAY trying to combine onbug w/any other group or TV site. I AM trying to help people become wiser and grow. ONBUG is a Necessary group as it gives local fans room to be “at Home”. I Would Never try to bring the world to our Onbug nor do I advertise it to the world. All good things start with a smattering (baby steps) and grow from there. as was I and as can U.
Roj, I'm thinking you don't get it.
But I am not certain, because what you write is unintelligible to me. I can’t quite make out your purpose. If you want to spread the word on the awesomeness that is BSU football, then you need to say so, with vocabulary, punctuation, and purpose. Otherwise, you 1) aren’t representing the academic strengths BSU also promotes and 2) are confusing those folks who communicate via the written word, whether the topic is football or yad yada…?
I am not seeking perfection. As kcam has pointed out several times, my grammar, etc. quite often sucks. Nor am I trying to be snotty nor unwelcoming. I actually am trying to understand what you are trying to convey.
It is my opinion that OBNUG attempts to be polite, thoughtful, and educational, among other worthwhile objectives. We do tend to trash vandals, with vigor. But for the most part, we do not trash each other, nor do we vent on the administrators. A more considerate and productive administration can not be found, again, imo.

Hindsight myself
Chill Pill, Amen, I want one too! But it seems alot of our homepage stories reflect the Historical 2+ old year juvinile snot ball type blogging remaks that we used to make Nationally on espn = Attack, get mad and or degrade in the early years, no one respected us So we Just jumped in and spread the BSU love no matter the risk.
Yet I notice our alot of our onbug Homepage stories, although cutsie, at times arent ever kind to say espn’s Joe Shad ect. – Why not befriend him and take that to Our advantage? He’s already got 200 team groups knocking him, Does this administration think Our Degrading him furthers BSU any ? How do we help Bsu in that type of matter? We dont, as A confused or Mad mind says “No”. Sorry, I have to say it ‘Politics’.
I admit, I do write uniquely but I use – as a spacer and = as a result answer As All minds can get lost in 1 Monster paragraph including me, lol.
I REGET alot myself too – I have to deal w/being misread severly by those who dont know me. I came here not to bark Orders, but in Hopes to help BSU be better served. It’s deep, i know, its just me, that and Yes, U are right I dont use spell check, if there’s One on here let me know. Its just that Nationally for years we had “spell chek” nites on our blogs starting w/Va Tech, we all grew tired of them and just figured = if U can pronounce it – U can read it = good nuff.
Also remember as I said in my main story, I came here to learn local ONBUG, – I cared enough to explain and introduce myself on My time and did so expecting some abuse, it’s only natural and probably 20,000 National blog post has desensitised me abit to it all over the years. A bit of an Ahz myself, I am Good to have in your corner though, references pending ; )
thanks for your thoughtful response
Very blog needs an antagonist. CJ worked for a long time…but it got too easy. May is always a handy and eager punching bag. Joe Shad…I don’t know if he is legit as an analyst or not. But if he doesn’t speak knowledgeably about bsu, he is toast. Why should we cut somebody slack for their lack of research just because he/she has media exposure? That seems to me to be a very good reason to shape them up…through insult, maybe not, but if they didn’t make an effort the first time, …fair game. And then there’s Kirk…ah, Kirk. He’s the Man :-)

Cept Mark May and Craig James, (who can eat shite and live). The goal would be to ‘suck it up a bit" play the game, play the writer or analist and See if U can get them to Mention BSU in a positive way.
Ahz whole remaks to National writers is Bad Press and BSU gets more than its share already. Actually it gets us a ’Not mentioned’ instead of a + result. Remember, = To feel Failure is way better than to feel Regret. To Fail means one must at least make an effort. So with that, Fail = Learn and to Fail Big means to Learn Big. P.S. = I have been forgetting to say that Craig James and Mark May are greatly disliked Bigots of mine to lol. 1 Has to remember – alot out there is for Entertainment -its not real news sadly. ESPN is the Propagandaist of all time – next to Fox news = “News Flash yad, yada – drag it out thru the day, creat a blogging frenzy of emotion and by nite time they then say oh, never mind, we were wrong”. ESPN this year is also Intentionally deleting alot of posts. Fans dont get that espn does this to get an emotional rise outa folks – I am trying to teach Bloggers to ignore the “mods” (or moderators). Yes true, I do write is perplexing to most new people – DONT read me Quickly or U Will misread me lol. That comes from years of National Blogging = Setting traps to demean and squash others. (Its an old WAC habit – Old BSU blogging ways are hard to move on from). It is 1 of those issues I need to de-learn when I’m on here.

You don't get it
Many of us have already made the progression from the message boards of CBS, ESPN to a much more mature poster on this site.
Spending all my time defending BSU to people who troll or don’t matter in the grand scheme of things is a waste of time. The idiots that attack BSU on those sites are actually a very small percentage of college football fans in the world and they don’t really matter. Their immature attacks should be ignored.
I’ve got better things to do like live my life than to cruise all the message boards out there for any perceived slight on the Broncos or Bronco Nation.
We’ve already grown wise. We’ve already been there, done that. Someday you will also, at least I hope you do.
SeniorChief is correct, if this blog ever evolves into what other blogs have become, most of us will leave. We don’t want this place to turn into something that other sites have become.
As a long time poster on forums, I have noticed how sites start out great and are fun to be involved in. Later, the sites get very popular and then the quality of the posters goes way down. Many of us don’t wish to see this site go that route.
The only way to prevent this is with great moderation. So far, we’ve had that.
If you want to seek wisdom, those other sites are not where it’s at.
Many of us here are older fans, far past our 20 something years. We also have a great group of younger posters who appreciate what we have here.
Just because many of us don’t venture onto other sites doesn’t mean we don’t know what is out there. We know, therefore we stay here.

I can SEE already 7/8 of the 1/2 of U dont read ALL the Blogs on here before U talk = Even the Bible says “Be slow to speak and quick to Listen” So U can criticize a local boy = Good for U. Now go out there and Step Up your game, support BSU anyway U CAN< OR WANT. I am here to have fun too, its good to have a home base after being an Independent for sooo many years,, Roj.
OK OK
I will learn this backward scroll on here, the below blog Titled ‘AND’ was for Belexes and for U BB I would have to say = if U are confused, its cool, I have too many years of “Jolting” the opponent to make him the fish. I try hard on here YET, – OLD NATIONAL BSU blogging habits are hard to break. Yes, I do have a style, learn me as others have = Read me slower, my style is honed to pose the other side to misread me, make an error and All BSU fans Pounce on the other teams idiot. I will try to be NICE on HERE BUT I wont Become a YES man as many are. I do like to debate issues. I NEVER JUMP anyone unless I get Jumped first.
AND
Hey its Cool, Lead follow or Move over man. Some bury their heads in Sand while others get it chopped off. (ME Me me m) – TO Feel Failure is always Superior to Feeling REGRET, as in Failure we at least try. Regret, we never did and wished we woulda – Dont Blame me for liking to go national lol, I Have spilt my Blogging blood in every state rooting for BSU cfb, I am fine. My story was wrote so WE can learn about each other ; ’)

BIDL. MONGO. BIDL. MONGO.
Hmm.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they, too, have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

yup
OK, someday i will learn to reply to the right person, in the right way, on the right thread, I DO like the angle to the left on replies like above. IT IS hard though when people write Novels to reply to the Guy above w/out insulting the guy below him. Myself I specialize in single sentence remarks I just aint got there yet. ; ")
Is that you, Darth?
