Dream Conference

Let's say that the worst happens and the Big East falls apart in the next year or two. Which course of action would you prefer? Go back to the WAC or MWCUSA? Or should they attempt to build a new conference from the top schools of the non-AQs (no bottom feeders)? That is go back to a conference with the likes of Idaho, New Mexico (State), San Jose State, Colorado State, UNLV, Tulane, UTEP, and Memphis, ? Or play in a new conference with schools like Houston, SMU, SDSU, Tulsa, So. Miss, and Toledo? If you pick the later then pick your teams and make your realistic football conference (they can't be from any current AQ conferenjce (simply because that will never happen). And don't worry about picking the best TV markets. Pick the best schools that will give us a good SOS. Also give up on the Pac12 and Big12 cuz they ain't happenin'. Neva'. (Ghetto talk intended.)

My football conference is: Boise State, SDSU, Nevada, Fresno State, Utah State and Hawaii in the west. Houston, SMU, Tulsa, So. Miss, Toledo and LaTech in the east.

The first problem I see

is that regardless of who is “invited” to a new league, there will always be a bottom-feeder. Someone always loses and there will be teams that lose more than others. So, we might as well throw out the term “bottom-feeder” right now. Also consider that it’d still be a league full of midmajors and the whole term “bottom-feeder” is doubly enhanced and we wind up with the same argument against us that we currently, and have in the past, faced.

And “neva” gonna happen??? Ever hear that saying about not counting your chickens before they hatch? 2 years ago, who here would have honestly said that we would be in an AQ conference in the next 2 years? Not very many I’d be willing to bet. B12 or P16…it’s just a matter of time…

I voted “Other”…another AQ conference or independence…no mor non-AQ conference.

I hate everyone equally...especially Vandals!

Oh...

and as far as my “dream conference”…it’s the P16. Good rivalry started with Oregon and OSU…virtually everything is within driving distance. What’s not to like about that.

Northwestern Rivalry

Don’t forget to mention BSU have Washington and WSU games coming up on the schedule.

I would love that if they could try to make some kind of “Northwestern Rivalry Tourney” or something and get a trophy out of it!

THE WEST REGION

Conferences
Northwest

East Div./ West Div.

Boise St / Cal
BYU/ Stanford
Fresno St/ Oregon
Reno/ OSU
Utah/ Washingtom
Utah St/ WSU

Southwest

East Div./ West Div.

Air Force/ Arizona
Colorado/ Arizona St
CSU/ San Diego
New Mexico/ UCLA
New Mexico St/ UNLV
Wyoming/ USC

1. Each team plays all others in division.(5 games)
2. Each team plays one team from all three other divisions.(3)
3. Rotating east-west, each year, one division from Northwest & Southwest play Hawaii or UNLV (1)
4. OOR – Out of Region (new terminology)(2-3) If you’re a contender, it’s advisable not to schedule a 12th
5. If Hawaii or UNLV have a better season than a division champ, they may challenge them for a spot in the conference championship. The team with the best record plays at home.
6. The Northwest Conference Championship is played in the north (Seattle, SF bay area)
7. The Southwest Conference Championship is played in the south (LA, Phoenix, San Diego)
8. Regional Championship Las Vegas, of course! Wild West Championship
9. Now we play the Midwest champ in the Fiesta Bowl for the best of the west.

10. If the East people want to play for a real national championship, we’ll have the west team figured out. otherwise, bok, bok, bok bok, bok, bok go pound salt, we don’t need you round here anyhow. (:

This allows all teams to play half their games near home, it establishes 2 more championships, it creates division, inter-division, conference, and even regional rivalries. It will help spread recruiting balance throughout the west. All other sports will benefit, and most importantly I LIKE IT….

If you ever wanted to see Boise St play...may be a good chance. Love em or Hate em, they are always interesting; and now, no matter where you live, "They're Coming To Your City"

Other- Independent "Dream Schedule"

In this order;

1. BYU
2. USA team
3. Pac 12 team
4. MAC team
5. Big 12 team
6. WAC team
7. Notre Dame
8. BIG team
9. ACC team
10. Sunbelt team
11. Big East area team
12. MWC Hawaii
13. SEC team

I split the AQ conferences with a non AQ conference, then have 3 AQ’s in a row to kick up ranking followed by 2 easier, then rec in Hawaii, to get ready for season final, hopefully knocking off a #1-5

Could look like this;

1. BYU – home
2. SMU – away
3. Washington St – home
4. Miami (Ohio) – awayt
5. Iowa St – home
6. Idaho – away
7. Notre Dame – home
8. Indiana – away
9. North Carolina – home
10 North Texas St – away
11 South Florida – home
12 Hawaii – away
13 Florida – home
Agree to 2 away for 1 home with AQ’s(all in one peak season)
Prediction- Play all conferences, end up undefeated, or one loss & #1 in the Nation (last game the clincher) “Dream schedule”

ain’t NO way either team is playing in Bronco Stadium. Especially Florida. when was the last time an SEC team played west of the mississippi past september? let alone non-conference, etc?

and idaho away? wha—?!

When you can pay an SEC team $2M to come play then you can get them. LSU played a PAC10 team home and home. Tennessee plays home and home. Georgia has played home and home with Big XII and PAC 12. Alabama too.
No SEC team will come to your little bandbox for small change when they can pay a C-USA team $700,000 and still net $2M. It isn’t about anything but money. Get over yourselves.
Looks like Boise State will fall back to the bottom of the top 20 next year. Hope y’all enjoyed your 15 minutes of fame.

Big-12 or Pac-12 is just as realistic as joining with a bunch of WAC/MAC/CUSA/MWC teams

If you aren’t worried about tv markets and money, then we may as well go independent. But the Big East isn’t going to wither away in the next two years anyway so it’s a moot point right now.

Screw rebuilding new conference...

I think Boise State could go banging on the door of PAC-whatever and keep asking for acceptance. Like the Simpson kids bothering Homer…

BSU – “Can I join in now?”

PAC-WHATEVER – “No.”

BSU – “Can I join in now?”

PAC-WHATEVER – “No!”

BSU – “Can I join in now?”

PAC-WHATEVER – “NOOO!”

After 217,397 times, PAC-Whatever will finally accept Boise State into the fold.

The Dream?

To me the Dream is not even being in a Conference. I would rather have us go independant. A NBC muti-million dollar contract like the Irish. Therefore NBC can have a double header at times on Saturday. We would also consistently play Nevada, Fresno State, TCU, and Idaho every year. I would also want us to have an SEC, PAC 12, BIG 10, and BIG 12 opponent every year also. Plus a couple of softies.

So, the Southeast could watch Alabama v Arkansas, or Boise State v Wyoming? Or the Southwest could choose Texas/Oklahoma or Boise/Idaho?
Yep, the networks will pay you millions for that. And the Big 10 fans would surely choose Boise v Sacramento rather than Wisconsin v Michigan.

Very good point...

Ok, let me put some more thinking into my so called, “Dream”. Say in 4 years our stadium is complete. Seating 60,000 plus. I’m sure by then we’ll have our, what the BCS calls a, “Title”. We already have a pretty strong fan base across the country. It would only get bigger. With that, we would start attracting so called, “Big Time Schools”. Now, instead of people looking down by those schools losing to us. They would start looking good, if they at least competed in the loss. With all this happening, schools like USC, Texas, Michigan, Arkansas, and others wouldn’t mind agreeing to a Home and Home. So say this all occured.

Arkansas
Iowa
@Fresno State
@Nevada
@Idaho
California
BYU
@Oregon
@San Diego State
Utah
TCU
@Wyoming

Since we’re on the West Coast, we would try to sign deals with the Universities around our area.

Troll?

Why ,sir, are you afraid to read a differing opinion? I try to post a contrary thought to provoke a deeper discussion. When everyone thinks the same, then they are not thinking.
Sometimes I post an outrageous comment to provoke more responses. For instance, my earlier response to ItIs Time on his “The Dream” post caused him not to reject and attack me, but to rethink his idea. His further comments on the future larger stadium and considering looking for West Coast OOC games fleshes out his original idea.
We in the SEC (and at my alma mater Georgia) appreciated the competition Boise State brought to Atlanta this season. Georgia thought the young team they had was ready for a serious SEC season, but we found out we weren’t. After reviewing our weaknesses and addressing them we went 10-1 and won the SEC East title. With the upcoming Top 5 recruiting class to give us stronger depth, we think we may be on the verge of becoming a NC contender in 2012 and beyond.
Trolls and Flamers don’t offer differing ideas, but merely foolishly attack others, much as you did to me.

You know, Cowboy, one of the problems that many politicians face is that they lie on the record and then deny that lie at a later time. They are either too ignorant to realize that records can be checked, or they are hoping that people have short memories and will accept that lie at face value.

Your own words have convicted you, sir.

Chiefs Post

Thanks for posting that obvious forgery. I never stated I was a troll. I first came here to have some fun and challenge the Boise State fans before our game last season. I found instead a group of sensitive little girls that whined and cried when everyone else didn’t tell them how pretty they looked in their cute pink party dresses.
Georgia fans congratulated Boise on their victory and moved on to concern about the team.
You and a few others here have done nothing but whine and cry about some vast conspiricy against Boise State. I’m surprised you haven’t claimed Boise actually beat TCU but some BCS official forged documents to change it to a loss.
Funny that my post you found so offensive was in response to another fan who seems to have taken it as I meant it – a thought to provoke discussion and further contemplation. And my post in response to Astrosmurf has been hijacked by you to attack me. Let the others fight their own fight.

Fabricating stories about hard evidence is another

Fabricating a post of me claiming to be a troll is indeed a shameful act. Just because you have no original ideas to discuss in here doesn’t mean I shouldn’t post here and discuss with others. When the NCAA levied sanctions on Boise State for cheating in recruiting I merely pointed it out to counter several posts here alleging massive cheating at other schools. If the shoe fits ….

Chef forging Posts

I don’t know how to contact the moderators or administrators of OBNUG, but would they be amused to find one of their darlings forged a post and falsely accused someone? If so, they are as petty as the Chef.
I suppose when he can’t debate a poster with facts and logic he has to resort to slander and lies.

And I’m not even positive they can edit one. Only delete it. Plus, every edit of anything posted has an IP stamp on it. I’m sure that an administrator can PROVE that you edited that update to your own post.
