Wake up, Bronco Nation: Boise State football links and things, 1-17-12
Boise State looks for their first road win of the season tonight versus Colorado State
The guys are coming off a loss to Air Force at home on Saturday night and are 10-6 overall this season. You can catch tonight's game on the Mtn as every other conference game this season. There is an upside to the MWC TV contract!
Could the Saints draft Kellen Moore?
The Saints already have Drew Brees who is famously undersized but also Chase Daniel who is listed at 6 foot. The Saints offense seems to be tailored to undersized quarterbacks so there's a chance Moore could be picked up in a late round.
Tyrone Crawford gets combine invite
Crawford is the seventh combine invite along with Moore, Martin, Winn, Iloka, McClellin and Potter. I'd still like to see Kyle Efaw and Chase Baker get an invite so don't let me down NFL!
Over-signing rules affecting Nick Saban
Saban was notorious for signing classes with more commitments than scholarships. Well that's not allowed any more and the first commit to be told there isn't a spot is Atlanta senior Justin Taylor. Saban told Taylor he will need to wait a year to play for the Tide and shockingly, Taylor appears content to do that. Move on, kid. It's a sign.
Hard Knocks college style with Mike Leach
It could be in the works by Friday Night Lights creator Peter Berg. I would so watch that show.
Happy Belated Birthdays!

Re: Justin Taylor
i get what you’re saying in the “move on” thing, but on EDSBS apparently the school is going to help him find a job in the meantime. and, shockingly enough, it’s not an NCAA violation. In fact in their books, it’s perfectly fine. And like Spencer Hall said, it definitely sounds exploitable.
look for this to be the new “in” thing and watch the NCAA open, yet, another can of worms that will have a tough time closing. this will soon be ridiculous.
for the record, if schools and coaches are going to be getting away with this, i fully expect Petersen to take advantage while he’s under the three scholly loss. does it sound slimy? sure does. is it within the rules? apparently.
My QB has an AWARD named after him. How about yours?!

but now that i think about it.
this sounds like that arrangement that got OU in trouble the year of the Fiesta Bowl I. Remember Rhett Bomar?
Course, I guess the difference is that the student will actually do the work.
on a side note: the Raiders signed him to a future contract. Crap.

Yeah
I’m looking at it from the athlete’s perspective as far as if Alabama isn’t ready to commit to you this year, then what makes you think that Saban will keep his word in the future? Especially when this rule was created so that the student wouldn’t be locked up to a school that didn’t have a scholarship for him.
the EDSBS commentariat had a good point.
there is room on the roster. just not for him.
and yet he stays. ah well.

That allowance (helping athletes get jobs)...
…has been around for ages. Like every other allowance by the NC2A some places abused it, some took it seriously.
Where I first went to school there was a roid abuse problem… But nobody had jobs turning on the automatic sprinklers. Everyone that had a job really did work. Soooo… We picked our poison, I guess (poison! Ha… I made a funny!)

B-day felicitations, Belexes and luge dude!
The battle for hierarchy is more intense the lower the class.
