Announcing the First-Ever 2012 TAILGATE
Unofficial OBNUG Informal Post-Season Indoor No-Host TAILGATE.
Your Seasoned Nuggies (SeniorChief, boiseblues) are organizing an informal get-acquainted/get-reacquainted gathering for the Bronco Faithful to chase away the off-season doldrums.
Date: Friday, February 3, 2012
Time: Show up any time after 5:30 p.m.
Location: The Ram Restaurant and Brewery (yum)
709 East Park Boulevard
Boise
http://www.theram.com/idaho/boise.html
Attire: Casual, but wear something "Bronco" (shirt, hoodie, hat, pin, beads, mortar board, etc.) so we can identify you, and help keep out the Vandal riff-raff (unless they’re waiting tables, of course).
In addition to meeting friends, there’s plenty to talk about, including:
- National Letter of Intent signings (February 1);
- The coaching situation;
- The basketball team;
- Quarterback debates;
- 2012 schedule;
- Big East;
- NFL draft;
- Munson’s Secret Hideout.
Warning: Cameras may be present, and photos may be posted to OBNUG, so act with decorum or bring a bag to put over your head.
We don’t need a headcount, but who’s in?
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

God i wish i could be there...
I just moved to Vegas. This would be an awesome annual event. Shoot, even weekly. During the season of course. Good Idea Chief.

If I could find a decent nursing job in the treasure valley is be back in a heart beat… If it becomes a tradition maybe next year
Tradition!
What a fine idea! We could have a poll and see which venue wins out each year. Or an annual beer tasting contest. Or an OBNUG tshirt contest (dry?). Or a pick-em contest for which SEC team comes in as the bottomest bottom-feeder based on cupcake opponents.
I’m sure there are better ideas for an OBNUG tradition out there. Go for it!

Great Idea
Hope I can make it. Maybe we could start of couple of BSU drinking games. Like making those little paper triangles that you flick across the table through someones hands shaped like a field goal. We’ll see who can handle the pressure.

(Standby for Fractured History)
Yes, the Mesopotamian Bowl featured BSU against a team from the SEC (Sumerian-Egyptian Conference), the Carthage Crimson Pachyderms (motto—"Roll Derms Roll").
The game was tied at the end of regulation (10 years), but the Broncos prevailed in overtime when Coach Pete the Great of Boicedonia, astride the greatest warhorse of all time, Boicephalis,
reached deep into his playbook for a Bronco "trick play."
The Derms never knew what hit them, and the SEC has borne antipathy for the Broncos ever since.
(I know, I’m all over the place historically and geographically, but I had fun trying to make it fit. As a youngster, some of my favorite TV episodes were “Fractured Fairy Tales” on Rocky and His Friends, an obvious influence.)

Fairly certain that is not a Carthaginian...
That is a Magyar Hun (the Fightin’ Attilas) one of the founding schools of the B1G (Balt 1 Goth – note their conference logo made as little sense then as it does now). Their biggest rivals were The Odin State University (the Lokeyes). Football in that conference was slow, cumbersome – even boring due to remaining glaciers from the last ice age… even though they claimed to be as good as anyone from Sumer/Egypt (hey y’all).
In fact, the northern conferences only beat the SEC as it became corrupt and began collapsing on itself through inbreeding and performance-enhancing hummus consumption.
SC – you forgot to tell everybody about the line on tablet 1 – the notation about the corrupt Sumerian politician, Craigitur-Jamesdung who accepted graft and was known to have killed 5 basileian women.
--To my brothers of FOOL (Fraternal Order of Offensive Lineman - Medio, turpis et arcu agro usque)
One would think the Vandals (sackers of Rome, etc)...
would have been in that conference, but any resemblance to dui and the real fierce type empire concquerors would be completely coincidental…
Boise State football is akin to molten lava. You can see it and perhaps run from it, but you can't stop it.
They were in a lower division
With the Proto Balts… Riding on the cape tails of Peteus the Great, they still only managed to fall backwards out of the plesenium they built in the capital city with misappropriated dinerii… When they were caught they proceeded to stab one another in the back in the senate (this is the REAL basis for Bill Shakespeare’s play… Et tu Bobbus Hooverus?)

I love "Peteus the Great"
and nominate its use for future histories. Visions of an entire series of Fractured History are flashing before my eyes, as we follow the teams the Broncos have played through the milliennia, including their conferences and their descendants.
This could be fun, and finally a chance to use everything we learned in History of Western Civ. (But when I took the course, there was a lot less history. It was a two-week, one-credit class.)
