Montana OC Jonathan Smith headed to Boise State
They just lost their DC too. Guys we know how you feel!
Despite the media reporting Jonathan will be OC we know that's not true. He'll more likely be the new QB coach, he was QB coach at Idaho before going to UM...
UPDATE: The linked story has the facts straight and have confirmed with a source from inside the University of Montana Athletic Department

Yeah I posted that then realized that couldn't be right
If the medias reported that he’s heading to Boise I think he’s heading to Boise. I’ve edited the fanshot

I believe so...
That’s what they are saying. QB Coach.
'Trust me, i can protect myself. I'm a Boise State Broncos Football fan.'
Passing Game Coordinator sounds better than QB Coach...
I bet that is what they mean by coordinator…He’ll probably do QB’s and Passing Game Coordinator since Prince was WR’s and Passing Coordinator, Pease was QB’s and OC right?

The guy was Oregon State's OMVP in the 2001 Fiesta Bowl
throwing for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns leading the Beavers to a 41–9 rout of Notre Dame. That’s pretty sweet
wasn't that the last BCS bowl game they won?
let alone went to?
or am i just waaaaay off base?
My QB has an AWARD named after him. How about yours?!

I wouldn't know...
I don’t follow that crowd.

Wow..
I didn’t realize it was that Jonathan Smith. He did kind of look familiar(i dont know him personally). So we got someone with a BUNCH of potential. I knew we would be OK.

And he has OC experience at Montana
Heaven forbid Prince gets poached in a couple years!

well that's cool.
finally good to get a coach rather than lose another.

He must be ecstatic...
he’s got Matt Miller, Montana all world receiver, for his charges to throw to…and with Montana deciding not to go FBS, this was likely a no-brainer.
Boise State football is akin to molten lava. You can see it and perhaps run from it, but you can't stop it.
Are we just sorta ignoring the part about
cough/Idaho/cough?

that was my thought exactly. and what i wanted to joke about too.
but, in making that joke, i didn’t want someone to not get it and say something like, “well Lyle Smith was a Vandal alum and that worked out”.
so i’m actually kind of glad you made it for me.
thanks.

I'm not ignoring it (and don't like it), but Pete seems to.
As long as he’s happy.

Wazzou is looking pretty good for 2016 and 2017 seasons.
HC-Mike Leach. OC-Jeff Choate. DC-Mike Breske.

in 4 years he will be.

Smith was my first thought when I heard Pease was leaving...
granted I had forgotten about Pease and was thinking of Smith has OC.
Smith is a Kellen Moore clone. Undersized, unathletic (for a QB) and unheralded, but he is a football savant. He was a walk-on Freshman at Oregon State when he won the starting QB job, leading OSU to their first winning season in nearly three decades.
As a Junior he took the Beavers to the Fiesta Bowl, beating Notre Dame and finishing the year ranked #2.
As an offensive mind he has the passing background and influence from Mike Riley and Dennis Erickson, but at Montana also showed some nice wrinkles at OC mixing in some read option and power run with Montana’s explosive offense. With the mobility of some of our upcoming QB’s I like what I saw at Montana and think it will translate well mixed in with Coach Pete’s offense.
