The Boise State football team finished the year where it began, among the Top Ten teams in college football. The Broncos came in at No. 8 in the AP poll and No. 6 in the Coaches' poll and No. no one knows or cares in the Harris Poll. There was no split national champion in the AP as the media went with Alabama after LSU's stinker of a title game. The top five teams in the country look like this in both polls:

  1. Alabama
  2. LSU
  3. Oklahoma State
  4. Oregon
  5. Arkansas
  6. Boise State

The AP Poll had Stanford and USC ahead of Boise State. The Broncos began the year at No. 5 in the AP and No. 7 in the Coaches.

Notable things:

  • The Kellen Moore era ended with a third consecutive Top Ten finish. The Broncos have gone No. 11, 4, 9, and 8 in the AP poll and No. 13, 4, 7, and 6 in the Coaches during Moore's career. So no pressure, Joe Southwick.
  • Michigan State, the Broncos' season opening opponent next year, finished No. 11 and No. 10.
  • Southern Miss (20, 19) and BYU (26, 25) were other 2012 opponents to finish in the rankings.
  • TCU finished No. 14 and No. 13. Georgia finished No. 19 and No. 20.
