#1 Add to the reasons why Gene Bleymaier was fired; Reason #3 To be a successful AD you need to be a savvy negotiator. In big money BSU away games your job isn’t over once you have negotiated the $1.4M payout. Three weeks before the game I had scored tickets from Stubhub right behind the BSU bench on the 35 yard line, third row which was almost exactly the same as I had acquired for the VT game. Imagine to my surprise that my wife, I and maybe 6 others were the only BSU fans behind the BSU bench on the first level. The BSU fans were somewhere down by the 10-15 yard line to the corner of the end zone. A savvy AD after negotiating the payday brings up the point that this is a neutral site game and to really make it fair BSU needs an extra $275k to send its band & drill team to create a more neutral atmosphere. Also, a savvy negotiator requires that since BSU is only receiving 7.5k tickets that in fairness those fans should be directly behind the BSU bench on the first deck supporting their team. On these big money games BSU fans should not be relegated to corners and nose bleed territories. Savvy or just really common sense?
#2 My order of worst fans on the away games I have attended; #1 Reno, #2 Idaho, Tied #3 VT & Oregon. Guess what shifted everyone right? Georgia fans have claimed the #1 spot and I don’t think anyone will ever surpass them. As a few of the OBNUG bloggers have stated in previous posts, it is something to have a Georgia fan barking at you, but when half of those that do think they need to get about one inch from your face to do it, and then when you push them out of your personal space they get upset, yell don’t touch me, and want to fight you………….. well you get the idea. Let’s see, you stepped on my toes, you smacked my wife in her forehead and you don’t get the concept of person space? You can’t bark at us from a comfortable distance? But wait… you finally get to your seat and are surrounded by thousands of Georgia fans. Hey no big deal! But from that first minute of the game until the final whistle (but taking a small half time break) I have not heard so many cuss words in my life directed at my wife & I, and at the BSU players on the bench. I know it happens but the cwph (cuss words per hour) during the first half 100-140 cwph kept increasing to the point that by the second half those were the only breathable syllables coming from the Georgia fans in my section. What was really sad was by the end of the second quarter until the end of the game most of the Maserati cwph were directed at the Georgia football players and coaches. My wife commented that if this is what it takes to play in the SEC then I hope we stay small time forever. I could relate more of Georgia’s fan behavior (and I am not talking about a few fans) but why kick a Dawg while he is down.
#3 Brandon Boykin 80-yard TD run – son that is SEC speed! Hey BSU #7 just blew by your defense; Where is that SEC speed? Georgia OL goes down – son that is why you are small potatoes, this is SEC depth! Hmmm, then why is our second team defensive rotation giving your SEC OL so many problems? How come your SEC speed and depth can’t get to our QB or cover our wide receivers? Your first stringers couldn’t even make 3rd string on our Georgia team. I know BSU players are not bottom fishing! My girlfriend is bigger than your cornerback there! Where is your girlfriend we might want to offer her a scholarship.
Sorry I took so long to post this as I went to the Florida Keys and have just been hanging out since the game.
