Wake up, Bronco Nation: Boise State football links and things, 9-14-11
Boise State cited for lack of institutional control
But how did Boise State get there? Looks like it was due to a lack of resources and expertise in compliance. Kustra vows to make sure this doesn't happen again. He also wouldn't elaborate on whether firing Bleymaier was part of the school's "key decisions" for the committee.
While we are generally happy with the penalties, reaction around the internet seems to think that even these penalties were too severe. They were at least inconsistent.
Boise State suspends Dutch student manager with ties to Dutch players (HT: BT Blue)
As Drew noted, this story is getting more and more bizarre. Either the new compliance department is doing and incredibly thorough/petty job or there's a bigger issue that we haven't heard of yet.
Individual game tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m.
I can't imagine there would be many left. Let's make every game a sellout, even that pesky New Mexico game.

Video: Gary Danielson opines about Boise State (HT: Freshbreff, SeniorChief)
I think he had to suppress a gag reflex while stating Boise State's schedule. But he does admit that he has to give Boise State credit for it's past success and how they handled Georgia physically in the trenches. We're still keeping our eyes on you too, Gary.
Boise State adds British prospect Elliot Hoyte
His former coach is saying that he's the ubiquitous "they" say that he's the best defensive end prospect they've seen in 10 years. The BBC also notes that Boise State plays on "blue astroturf pitch". Well, that's a new way around Boise State's trademarks!
Kellen Moore as Luke Skywalker? (HT: MikeTheTransplant)
And Nick Saban as Darth Vader? That sounds about right except for the whole father son thing.
Ian Johnson signed to 49ers practice squad (HT: dwbat)
The former Boise State running back has another football life for now.

Do we really have Japanese players on our team?
I love that our coaches go over seas to recruit, they’re geniuses.
I wondered the same thing
And we’ve only lost five “matches” in the past six years.

I wounder how I can get the job of overseas recruiting agent for BSU!
A couple of trips to Amsterdam some more tips to Britten. Then off to Japan to get some sumo wrestlers. All paid for by Boise State.
Well besides the Dutch and Canadians...
we have a Hawaiian, which is probably as close to Japan as we get. Perhaps we have a secret team of international football agents preparing to take on the world should their University ever call upon them to dispense justice and general butt-kicking on a bigger stage.

I'll be buying a couple tickets this morning.
Nevada, Air Force and TCU are pretty much impossible to get tickets unless you want to pay 600.00 apiece. I’ll be in town for Tulsa so that’s where I’m setting my sights.
Boise is so efficient they are terrifying. If you have a weakness, they will find it, even if it takes them a quarter or two to size you up proper-like. The Anderson Silva of football offenses, if you will. - Spencer Hall, The Alphabetical Week 1, 2011
I bought 4 in the North End Zone for $100 a piece
for the TCU game. Not sure how much they are normally, but I thought it was a deal for the TCU game.

Well considering that face value for NEZ tickets is $32.00, I suppose it's personal opinion whether or not you pay a 300% mark-up.

Also, only UNLV and Fresno State have away game tix still available for those who travel to watch the Broncos pound teams.

So does San Diego, if you go through stubhub, not that a pounding is a given.

Few other links on Elliot Hoyte:
Was actually going to make a Fanshot about him 2 days ago but been super busy.
I need a new sig, ya dig.
Did anyone else read those in a British accent? I couldn't help it.
I’m quite certain this young chap will give quarterbacks a frightful time.

Tut tut, old boy
Just so.
You cannot reason a man out of something he didn't reason himself into in the first place.
I started by reading it in a British accent
then when I got to this sentence “They reckon he’s the best defensive end prospect they’ve seen in 10 years” I started reading it in a southern accent.
"Whatever happened to just winning games."

I liked this line in particular:
Elliot will start his first term in January and will be taking a business degree alongside playing sport.
So British! I’m wondering how long it will take his mates at home to realize we don’t kick the footie near as much as they would expect.
Gene's firing being one of "key decisions"
He also wouldn’t elaborate on whether firing Bleymaier was part of the school’s “key decisions” for the committee.
Found this on the Statesman’s website:
Among those key decisions: firing longtime Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier last month. Kustra maintained that Bleymaier’s dismissal came because of the NCAA probe, which began in 2008.
No Real Bronco fan will miss New Mexico this year
Last Home game for Kellen and co, I do not care if it is -20 I will be there.
