boiseblues liked my rendition of "It's Very Clear," but said that it's a little soothing for smashmouth football. She's right. Accordingly, I've altered another famous song, one of the favorites from my boyhood, and I hope it captures the almost-mystical feeling I have about the Broncos. It also goes to our roots as a Western team. It's set to the tune of "Ghost Riders in the Sky."
A Georgia Dawg went strollin’ out one hot and sultry day.
Between hedges he closed his eyes to rest along the way.
And he saw a herd of red-eyed steeds that shook him to his soul,
A-plowin’ up the football field as they raced on to the goal.
Their nostrils snorted fire and their hooves were made of steel;
Their flanks were blue and shiny and their hot breath he could feel.
A bolt of fear went through him as he watched them thunder by
For he saw the Sooners, Ducks and Hokes, and he heard their mournful cry.
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Ghost Runners in the sky.
Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their jerseys soaked with sweat.
They’re runnin’ hard to catch that team, but they ain’t caught ‘em yet.
They’ll run forever on that field no matter how they try
To pull up on the Broncos, and you can hear their sad, sad cry.
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Ghost Runners in the sky.
The DBs loped on by him and he heard one call his name,
If you want to save your season, man, and try to play the game,
Then, Dawg, you’d better change your ways and give Boise its due
Or you’ll face a fate like ours, defeated by Big Blue.
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Ghost Runners in the sky.
