I posted this a couple months ago as a rebuttal to the argument that Boise State has an unfair advantage because of the Blue. According to Rocky Long (from this Idaho Statesman Story), the first part of the game is un-playable because of the blue on blue on blue. Well, numbers say otherwise. Check out 2010's Away vs. Blue turf 1st quarter scores after the jump.
Boise - Opponent
7 OrSt 7
15 Tol 7
14 LaT 7
6 Haw 0
3 Fres 0
15 UtSt 7
TOTAL:
60 - 28
Now, check out the first quarter results on AWAY games, or, the games that were played on GREEN playing surfaces.
1st Quarter scores on Away or neutral field games
Boise - Opponent
17 VT 0
17 WY 0
24 NMSU 0
21 SJSU 0
28 dUI 0
3 NEV 0
0 Utah 3
TOTAL
110 - 3
When we traveled in 2010, we outscored the opponent 110-3. I think we have an unfair advantage when we play on green fields.
So, Craig, Rocky, and the rest of you Mountain West Children, take a look at stats. I've been on the Blue, field level, while Boise is playing in their Blue on Blue on Blue combo, and at that level, there is NO competitive advantage.
"But what about film???" you ask? spend a little of your TV contract money and upgrade your home theater system to HD. You'll be alright.
