The readership is well aware of my oft stated position that the Idaho Statesman is only good for bird cage liner. Well, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong, and am man enough (usually, ok occasionally) to admit it. The other night my wife and I were going to use our fire pit. I discovered that if you take portions of the Idaho Statesman, crumple them up, and place them UNDER (this is important) the kindling and light them, it will ignite the latter and make a very nice fire. No kidding, this works every time assuming dry kindling, proper air flow etc. So there. Two uses for the Idaho Statesman-who knew?
