Austin Pettis Shows Up Big in All-Star Football Challenge
Austin Pettis had a great night on ESPN2’s 2011 All-Star Football Challenge!
Pettis just competed and won the State Farm Hands competition in the 2011 All-Star Football Challenge on ESPN2. Austin showed the nation what we have enjoyed seeing him do time after time by snatching his catches with all hands. He was as cool as the opposite side of the pillow as he caught all but one ball thrown at him by both Jugs machine and Ryan Mallett. I don't remember the total time but I believe he won by well over a second.
The next challenge he competed in was the Sketchers Shape-Ups offensive competition. He was teamed up with Jake Locker and they cleaned up on the other two teams of Andy “the ginger” Dalton/Jordan Todman and Ryan Mallett/Torrey Smith. In this drill, he had to run through an obstacle coarse while catching passes from Locker in the quickest time possible. He did great and was smooth as he always is.
The last competition that he was part of was the 4-Man Team Competition. He was teamed up with J. Locker, R. Homan and R. Kerrigan. Austin’s part included catching a screen pass from Locker then running through the bags, the rope ladders, and around some block cones before relaying off to Homan.
The announcers have had nothing but praises for Austin as well as then entire Boise State program. Very cool!

thanks!
I was on the road, and didn’t get to watch the broadcast, so I really appreciate your description of the competition. It’s great that Austin did so well; as you stated, no big surprise that he did so. All of Bronco Nation was so fortunate to watch him play for four years. Also congrats on your first post! You have a steep mountain to climb in order to catch up with Crissie’s fame on OBNUG, but you’re off to a great start!

You should have seen him sweating over this...
He was so excited to see Pettis do so well and was dying to report on it over here at OBNUG, but kept watching to see if someone would beat him to it so that he could retain his “Lurker” status. When it became obvious that it was up to him, he toiled over it in Word as to avoid any Munsons. Gotta talk to him about capitalizing titles, but it’s a pretty dang good start. That’s my guy!

Rec'd for...
first post,
great write up,
RV roadtrip to Virginia Tech game, and
being married to Crissie.
Great to see this...
I didn’t know where to find info on this, wasn’t expecting OBNUG to have it for at least a day, but of course it did! Hope the NFL works out their CBA, looking forward to draft day.
Well Said
Your a lucky woman Crissie, or maybe I should say your a lucky man Scott.
"Every Damn Day."- Coach Pete
Ahem.
The conversation went something like this:
Scott: “What was that dude’s name who was playing with the ginger Dalton? The guy from UConn?”.
Me: “Jordan Todman. UConn being in the Fiesta Bowl was a freaking joke.”.
Scott: “Yeah – that’s it. Thanks. I know you’re cool. You don’t have to rub it in.”.
Actually, I think we both got pretty darn lucky… He got a girl who speaks football and I got a boy who does laundry. PERFECT!

Great write up
Scott, man, you did a great job. Had I known this I would have watched the competition rather than watching X-Files season 5 on Netflix.
X-Files is on Netflix?!
I’m outta here
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany
Locker and Pettis
We all moaned when Locker was paired with Pettis but it turned out well. Pettis was easily the best receiver on the program, which had to be moved inside since Dallas is colder than Boise this week! Interesting that Pettis wore the all orange uniform top from the Fresno State game. Considering who has competed an won in this competition over the years (Dez Bryant last year) Austin may have helped himself a bit, especially considering that Todd McShay was one of the commetators.
It will be replayed tonight on ESPN2 at 9:30 MST

It was fun watching Pettis
He easily had the best hands at the competition. He was making the jugs machine look easy.
