Email the Fiesta Bowl & Sugar Bowl NOW - It makes a difference! Contact Info & Sample Email Included
One of the criteria used by Bowl Selection Committees is to ensure FANS TRAVEL TO FILL HOTEL ROOMS AND SPEND MONEY. I could reference past statements from Bowl Selection Committees to prove this, but it takes too much time.
Please contact the Sugar Bowl and Fiesta Bowl now. Tell them:
- You are excited to attend the Bowl Game
- You will travel to the game and spend 3 or 4 days in their city
- You are hoping they choose Boise State

done!
Sent an e-mail to every one of those guys and gals, at least I can know I did everything in my power before the bowl selections are out tonight.
Better to have play a mid-level schedule and potentially be the best team in the nation, than to play and lose on a hard schedule and remove all doubt.

Awesome. It really does make a difference.

Really?
2 hours before the announcement, you don’t think they already have decided who they are choosing? You think these people are sitting down reading emails this very minute? Even if they have not made their decision yet, do you think that they seriously say something like, “I’d really like to take Michigan because of their long history and they’ve been known for a large alumni that is willing to travel, but I received 236 emails from Boise State and only 87 emails from Michigan. Let’s take Boise State.”
Personally, I think the emails get deleted faster than it takes their computers to say “You’ve Got Mail” and none of them are ever read.
Realist
But the moral of the story is that the BCS and all those involved just don’t care what the fans of the non-AQ schools think, no matter how many emails, how many likes a Facebook page has, or how many politicians threaten antitrust lawsuits. They are going to keep hating and do their own thing.
Oh I sent them an email alright...

It was too little too late, that's true
But Bowl Committees actually do make decisions based on email campaigns. Last year was a good example: Nevada lobbied the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in a big way and got an invite over Boise State. It worked well for us, because we wanted the Maaco Bowl anyways.
The Fiesta Bowl committee has made similar statements – and of course, this year’s Sugar Bowl committee claims VaTech travels better. I’m not so sure we wouldn’t have been selected if we had put forth a huge email campaign. Who knows.
