I do. One of the biggest issues that I have had over the years with mainstream media coverage of Boise State games has been their lack of familiarity with the players, coaches, and even Boise itself . It's been comical watching them mispronounce several names for the entire game, or screw up a players name with his number for an entire game. They have traditionally fallen back on the topic of the underdog roll of Boise State as filler while still covering the better known team in the traditional fashion with player profiles and individual statistics and hometown stories.
I know some have been critical of Herbstreit in the past for his comments of Boise State's abilities and worthiness, but I've always thought he did it out of genuine belief over bitterness or animosity. Credit has to go to him for evolving with reality and he has been quite fair to Boise State over the last few years.
I loved the broadcast of the MAACO bowl that he and Chris Fowler did masterfully. They knew the BSU players, their stats, their prior games, their injury status/history, and they avoided the constant underdog or worthiness debate.
Kirk et al have gained a fan in me. It's a step up in coverage that I hope Bronco Nation has taken notice of. To me, it;'s the single largest step in media respect I've seen to date. What say you?
