It's WAY to early to be speaking about a 2013 recruiting class, but it's been an interest of mine. As we become more and more exposed to the nation for football, does it seem that we offer a scholarship to these kids MUCH sooner than we usually do? While this certainly is an advantage, it is definitely a change from previous years. Anyway, onto the breakdown... (Note, these are not all the offers we have extended, these are just the prospects who have expressed interest in our program)
Sebastian LaRue WR (5'11.5 185) - Projects as one of the top WR prospects of the West. Most recently, LaRue reminds me of Titus Young because of his size, quickness, and agility. With a better quarterback throwing to him (The highlights testament to that) LaRue could be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years. Boise State was his first offer... Sophomore Highlights.
Tyler Foreman DB/S (6'2 190) - Also projects to be one of the top prospects to come out of the state of California. Foreman conjures visions of a Lee Hightower/George Iloka hybrid. He represents these through his physical style of play, sound tackling, and ball hawking skills. We, as well as many other PAC-12 schools have extended an offer. Sophomore Highlights.
Chans Cox LB (6'3 220) - Cox is rated in the early rankings as a four star linebacker, which often means big things to come for him. Cox has been offered by five schools, us being the sixth so far. Cox reminds me of Blake Renaud for his obvious size, a bigger Byron Hout for his run stopping ability, and Aaron Tevis for his sideline to sideline speed. While we may have a little catching up to do on this prospect, he certainly is one to look at. Sophomore Highlights.
Kylie Fitts DE (6'4 245) - Fitts, while he isn't ranked yet, shows off a great skill set, he's got the size of a defensive end, the speed, and the aggressiveness. We aren't the only ones to notice this, USC and UCLA have shown interest, but haven't extended an offer yet. Fitts looks to me like a Tyrone Crawford type prospect for his quickness off the line and speed around the corner. We are his first offer, but many schools are showing interest. (Note, it says senior highlights, must be a mistake.) Junior Highlights.
EXTRA Joey Martarano LB (6'3 215) - As you all know has committed to Boise State. Hailing from Fruitland Idaho, Martarano plays practically all positions, his specialty being at line backer. Martarano is projected to be one of the top prospects in Idaho as well as the rest of the West.
I know, I'm probably missing a lot. Fill me in on what you guys know! I'll try to keep you up to date on the '13 class as well as the current '12 class.
