Kellen disrespected
I simply cannot believe it.
The final round of voting for the Davey O'Brien Award opened this afternoon. Kellen Moore led the nation's quarterbacks in fan voting for rounds 1 and 2, easily outdistancing his fellow quarterbacks by substantial margins. Clearly, he is the nation's favorite. Yet, today, he is not even named as one of the three finalists by the selection committee. Those slots went to Case Keenum, Andrew Luck, and Robert Griffin III.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, so I won't name Kellen's simply outstanding, once-in-a-lifetime performance. The most winning quarterback in the HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL! But I find it just another example of the disrespect he and our Broncos are afforded by the rest of the nation. Yeah, it adds another chip to the substantial pile on our shoulders, and that might be motivation for the future, but right now I just want to declare war on the rest of the snobs out there. Bad word, bad word, bad word in spades!
Kellen, we're sorry, but we know you'll take it in stride, as you always do. You're an amazing man, and we love you for what you've done and for what you've taught us. We will never forget you, and thank you for the fantastic memories!

O'Brien is now officially a joke
Saw this earlier today and am working on a voodoo doll for Luck. I get Griffin and even Keenum, but Luck isn’t even in the top 6 in numbers, has thrown 4 PICK 6’s and generally makes bad reads at a rate that defies him being in the same league with Kellen.
Last year, when Cam the felon/cheater won this award, I was shocked, since character and community service are part of the criteria. This year, I remained shocked, but not as surprised.
LIke you said Senior, KM outpolled Keenum 29% to 20% and Luck was what, #8? The fan vote only counts 5% – but hey, what do we know.

i was appalled when i saw that.
i still can’t believe it.
that award committee has lost my respect.
BUT WAIT. The detailed benefits are not just your average dollars-under-the-table, or some lameass "we let some players sleep at an apartment on the floor with a coach's help" allegations. No, you get the hell out of here, Boise.

Welp...
I always knew the Heisman trophy wasn’t about the best player in college football.
Now we can all throw the Davey O’Brien award in with it.
I’m not hurt. I guarantee Kellen’s not hurt. We just keep playing and winning.
20 years from now, we all won’t have to worry about mess like this.

I'm with all of you...
All of the “prestigious” college football awards are turning into a joke right along with the BCS. It’s beyond ridiculous, especially all the awards Scam Newton took home last year… whether or not he knew about the money, the laptop incident and alleged cheating at UF is enough in my mind to disqualify him from the “Integrity” portion of all of the awards, specifically the Heisman. It’s a joke really. We all know who deserves to win these awards and who doesn’t. It’s a popularity contest just like everything else, and since we’re not on ESPN very much this year (aside from when they’re bashing us) along with the fact that we lost ONE game this season, Kellen is out of the mix. Don’t get me wrong, Keenum is a great QB but he plays in a pass first system against some of the FBS’s worst defenses. Kellen would put up equivalent if not superior numbers if he was in his shoes. RGIII is crazy good but still lacks a lot of the fundamentals and smarts that Kellen has, he’s a great athlete and he can run and throw, but he’s on a team with 3 losses. Andrew Luck is also a good quarterback, but honestly I don’t think he’s anything special. He’s got a great supporting cast, and when he loses one or two of his top five receivers, his stats take a huge hit (see USC/Oregon games – no Owusu and no Toilolo for portions of both of those games). Sure he can run, he can throw, and he’s got some solid football smarts, but he’s way overhyped by the media and because of that, award committees assume that he’s far superior to everyone else because ESPN says so. I’m sick of it.
"Moore took a knee. It was an act of mercy. Boise State didn't need style points. It had proven itself the superior program long before." - Andy Staples, SI.com
They would have voted for Kellen if,
they could change the award’s title to" THE ALL-TIME BEST COLLEGE QUARTERBACK EVER-BAR NONE" Since they don’t have an award with that title, that is worthy of Kellen, their next step is surely to make one up with that title, and call it, “The Moore Award” … Of course, now, they will need to award the first one to Kellen. This of course, until someone can come along and change history again..Yea, right, NOT!!
This Sucks
I really don’t have words for this. Andrew Lucks numbers this year suck compared to Kellen’s. And No Mention of BSU at all on College Football Final Sat Night. It’s time to boycott ESPN

I was so livid
when I saw that this AM. I have been voting all year and Kellen was he was always way ahead in the fan voting.
I fired off an e-mail to the committee this morning. I expect one of their stupid canned responses like the one I got last year.
Kellen is a perfect example of the meaning for this award and NO ONE deserves it more.
BroncoInDuckLand is probably right about Kellen not being mad, he’s a better person than I, so I will be mad for him. Just for today.
what's the committee email?
I would like to make fun of them. It’s my favorite stress reduction technique.

This year has been Bizzare to say the least.
How does the winningest QB ever get shut out of every award. We beat Georgia, Georgia, then all of a sudden they are not that good of a team. We lose Young and Pettis, Kellen is suppose to struggle. When he doesn’t they just decide to black ball him and BSU. I have never seen such a conserted effort by most of the media to downplay kellen and the Broncos. Its so frustrating to see how they do every thing in their powers not to even mention us, that is unless we lose by 1 point, then they are all over it. It make me sad for Kellen and all the Seniors they deserve better.
I'm the 12 th man its my job its my duty.

Rounds 1 & 2 tally
Here are the national fan votes from rounds 1 and 2, comparing Kellen to the three (cough) finalists:
Round 1
Kellen Moore, 34,815
Case Keenum, 14,293
Robert Griffin III, 9,551
Andrew Luck, 1,643
Round 2
Kellen Moore, 26,251
Case Keenum, 18,560
Robert Griffin III, 4,437
Andrew Luck, 1,530

Unfortunately...
Those fan votes only account for 5% of the total vote. Who gets those other votes, I’m not sure.
They screwed the pooch on it for sure. One thing I know is that Boise State will continue to be in the picture and we will get our earned respect one way or another. Even if it takes another 20 years of sustained excellence. Coach Pete is still young. And the way his career is going, he will be much younger than 80-something when he breaks Paterno’s record.

Lol
Unfortunately his wins and his “questionable” character (to say the least) aren’t connected in that way, otherwise I would agree with you. Unfortunately he did earn those wins on the field.

Corrupt elitist BS
I am at a loss for words after Kellen didn’t even make the final cut. He absolutely DOMINATED Rounds 1 and 2 (as so adequately pointed out above). If “RG III” and Andrew Luck can’t even get their own FANS to vote for them, why in the (expletive) should we be wasting our time talking about them? I can make a case for Case Keenum, but, dang! REALLY??? (On a side note, hey, Sr. NASWI says hello. Go Navy)
Whidbey? Really?
I used to drive by Deception Pass a lot (42 years ago) when I was stationed at NSGA Marietta. You’ve most likely never heard of it (decommissioned in 1972), but it was nine miles out of Bellingham. Sweetest little station on the west coast.

Yeah, Go Navy, until we play them in the Big East. Then the Seafaring Broncos will have to scuttle the Middies.

Weeden and Wilson got left out too
At least Kellen is in good company
I don't believe in dibs, or love at first sight, or love, or best friends, or doing things.
What?!
You really just put Kellen Moore in the company of Brandon Weeden and Russel Wilson?! Oh, the shame… I’m pretty sure Weeden and Wilson have proven themselves lately… and it doesn’t look good for them.

In 2004, David Greene set the career wins record...
…which has subsequently been broken by Colt McCoy and then Kellen Moore.
David Greene was not a finalist for the Davey O’Brien award in 2004. Should I be retroactively outraged?

Man there were lots of great college qbs that year
Timmy Chang, Jason White, Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Leinart, Chad Henne
I don't believe in dibs, or love at first sight, or love, or best friends, or doing things.
Based on his time at Cal?
Or based on his time in Green Bay, which isn’t remotely relevant to the Davey O’Brien award?

QB'S
AARON RODGERS CAN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO KELLEN’S PRECISION PASSING! THAT IS WHY HE IS CALLED THE SURGEON!!
THESE IDIOTS HATE BSU, AND ANYTHING TO DO WITH US. HENCE THE STATEMENT BY REECE DAVIS THAT, “NOW THAT WE HAVE THE BOISE STATE THING STRAIGHTENED OUT, WE CAN GET DOWN TO OUR REAL BCS BUSINESS”
THEN THAT BLONDE BIMBO ON SCORES AND HIGHLITES, WHEN BSU WAS GOING TO BE MENTIONED AS A POSSIBLE PARTICIPANT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, SAID, " DON’T SAY BOISE STATE, DON’T YOU DARE SAY BOISE STATE."
I’M SORRY THESE IDIOTS THAT HAVE THAT MUCH HATRED TOWARD ONE SCHOOL, SHOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH COLLEGE SPORTS, IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. PERIOD, PARAGRAPH. END OF REPORT. MARK MAY ANDTHE CROOK, CRAIG JAMES, SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE AIR ALSO!
SORRY FOR THE DISRESPECT, KELLEN! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE HEISMAN WINNER IN MY BOOK!!!

QB'S
GREAT? HOW DO YOU DEFINE GREAT? WHAT MEASUREMENT DO YOU USE? I HAVE SEEN SOME FAIRLY GOOD COUNTRY QB’S BUT NEVER ONE LIKE KELLEN MOORE!!! BACK IN THE DAY, TERRY BRADSHAW AND DAN FOUTS WERE CONSIDERED GREAT QB’S. TO ME, THEY WERE AVERAGE QB’S WITH GREAT RECEIVERS.
KELLEN HAS MADE AVERAGE (AT BEST) RECEIVERS AND TURNED THEM INTO NFL PLAYERS!! THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE!!

I looked at qb stats from 2004
Saying that one dude was a great college qb doesn’t mean that some other dude isn’t one either.
I don't believe in dibs, or love at first sight, or love, or best friends, or doing things.
I mostly agree.
But Titus, Pettis and Jeremy Childs were not average. This year, ok, I’ll give you that.

KING KELLEN
I WAS TLKING TO AN OLD GOAT, LIKE MYSELF, WHO COACHED IN THE 40’S AND 50’S, AND HAS CONTINUED TO KEEP HIS FINGERS IN THE PIE.
HE SAID THAT KELLEN IS THE BEST QB HE HAS EVER SEEN! PERIOD, PARAGRAPH, END OF REPORT!!!
BETTER THAN VAN BROCKLAN, JURGENSON, Y. A. TITTLE, ROGER STABACH, YOUNG, MONTANA, BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM!!!
HE GAVE REASONS FOR HIS RATINGS.
VAN BROCKLAN WAS A SHOW OFF,
JURGENSON COULD THROW IT THROUGH A WALL, HE JUST DIDN’T KNOW SHICH WALL IT WAS GOING THROUGH,
STABACH HAAD A GREAT TEAM AROUND HIM THAT MADE HIM LOOK GOOD,
Y. A. TITTLE WAS MADE FAMOUS BECAUSE OF R. C. OWENS, AND THE ALLEY OOP PASS.
YOUNG AND MONTANA HAD GREAT RECEIVERS, THAT MADE THEM LOOK LIKE STARS, WHEN IN FACT THEY WERE VERY AVERAGE.
KELLEN MOORE TOOK AVERAGE RECEIVERS, AND MADE THEM LOOK GREAT, WITH HIS SURGICAL PRECISION PASSING!
FOR HIM TO BE LEFT OFF THE FINALIST LIST FOR THE OBRIEN AWARD IS CRIMINAL!!!
ROBERT GRIFFIN COULDN’T HOLD KELLEN’S SWEAT SOCKS, CASE KEENUM IS IN HIS 6TH YEAR, AND LUCK IS AN AVERAGE QB, AT BEST.
OF KELLENS 47 WINS, HE HAD 30 GAMES IN WHICH HE WAS “RELIEVED” AT HALF-TIME! I TOOK HIS STATS AND ADDED 35 % TO THEM, BECAUSE OF THIS! IF YOU ADD THAT 35 % TO HIS STATS, HE WOULD BE OVER 20,000 YARDS, OVER 175 TD’S,
AND BUT FOR THREE MISSED FIELD GOALS, WOULD HAVE A 50 —0 RECORD!
I’M SORRY, NOONE ELSE COULD CARRY HIS JOCK STRAP, LET ALONE WEAR IT!!!
I HAVE BEEN AROUND THE GAME SINCE 1951, AND CAN FIND MY WAY AROUND A LOCKER ROOM, AND FOOTBALL FIELD. I PLAYED, COACHED, WAS A TRAINER, REFFED, AND HAVE LONG BEEN AN AVID SPECTATOR. THERE IS NOONE IN MY LIFE TIME THAT I HAVE SEEN THAT IS BETTER!
THIS JUST SHOWS THE PREJUDICE AND BIAS THESE IDIOTS SHOW TOWARD BSU AND BSU PLAYERS!!!!

Our Tribute!
These are two emotional last home games for me little-dude-know-nothing fan who watches in awe. May we fill Bronco Stadium and cheer for him ‘til the final whistle. It’s the very least.
Kellen is by far the best Quarter Back in the Nation.
I say we all pitch in $3 and buy him a custom Kellen Award trophy from idaho Sporting Goods.
