Coming off an injury and with DJ Harper only available for an emergency, Doug Martin had one of the best games of the season. It was good to see him back in action and to rip off that 22 yard TD run in the 4th quarter that was vintage Dougie.
Well, I love it until I think about what might have been with a win over TCU, but I digress. Top 10 teams were losing all over the place this weekend and it felt good, especially to see Oregon and Oklahoma drop. But this now leaves Alabama with an inside track to the National Championship somehow. This week I'll be rooting for Auburn to please put that to rest. That and I hope the Irish can pull out a win against Stanford to drop them from BCS consideration.
TCU would need to get to 14 to be eligible for the BCS, but the Horned Frogs actually dropped a spot from 19 to 20 after beating Colorado State. Houston is still in the driver's seat though but they face a tough test Friday night against Tulsa.
The Broncos almost doubled up Cal State Northridge 103-61. The fighting Leon Rice's take on Long Beach State Tuesday night so if you're in the Southern California area still, you should go on out to support the guys.
This is from Saturday, but the Star Telegram has a bunch of quotes from TCU players on their game winning 2 point conversion against Boise State. I have to say, I was worried about them going for 2 after that touchdown. It was the right call. If Oklahoma had gone for 2 against Baylor before the false start penalty, I think they would have made it. Wonder if that would have affected how RG3 performed on the last drive.
Happy belated birthday to current player Tommy Smith (Saturday) and a very happy birthday to our own boiseblues today! Hope you get everything you wished for!
