What if.....

I have come up with a series of "what ifs" regarding the rest of the season that could possibly affect Boise's BCS bowl chances.

*What if...*

What if... LSU loses to Arkansas who lost to Alabama who lost to LSU? It would create a three way tie for first place in the SEC West. Who plays SEC East champ Georgia for the SEC championship?

What if... Georgia wins the SEC?

What if... Oklahoma "upsets" Oklahoma State?

What if... Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma?

What if... Oregon loses in the Pac12 championship?

What if... Stanford loses one more, most likely to Notre Dame?

What if... Houston loses to SMU and/or Tulsa?

What if... LSU beats Arkansas but loses to UGA in the SEC championship game? Does Bama become #1 or #2?

What if... Alabama loses to Auburn, or UGA in the SEC championship game?

What if Arkansas beats LSU and Alabama loses to Auburn?

I will attempt my own "what if..." answers after the jump. Feel free to give your own

My "what if..." answers:

What if... LSU loses to Arkansas who lost to Alabama who lost to LSU? It would create a three way tie for first place in the SEC West. Who plays SEC East champ Georgia for the SEC championship? According to the SEC rules the highest team ranked in the BCS wins the division, unless top two are within five spots of each other, in which case it would be head to head. If Arky beats LSU, I'd be willing to bet LSU drops below Bama, but Arky would move above Bama. That would be a head-to-head between Bama and Arky, in Bama's favor. Bama goes to the SEC championship where they get beaten by a surging UGA.

What if... Georgia wins the SEC? They go to the Sugar Bowl as the SEC champ.

What if... Oklahoma "upsets" Oklahoma State? Both have the same record in AND out of conference, but OU has the tie breaking win over OSU so the Big 12 title goes to Oklahoma. If LSU loses to Arkansas or UGA in the SEC championship and Bama loses to Auburn, or UGA in the SEC championship then OU goes to the BCS NCG and one loss Big 12 runner-up OSU goes to the Fiesta Bowl.

What if... Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma? Then undefeated Big 12 champ OSU goes to the BCS NCG? Does the Fiesta Bowl pass on a two loss OU for a one loss school with more national draw? Maybe just maybe, yes.

What if... Oregon loses in the Pac12 championship? Not likely. At current the Pac12 South champ will be either UCLA, who stands no chance against the Ducks, or ASU who already lost to Oregon once and just lost to UCLA. Oregon wins the Pac12. And if LSU and OSU both lose then Oregon is going to the BCS NCG, maybe against Bama, unless the Tide lose to Auburn, or UGA in the SEC championship.

What if... Stanford loses one more, most likely to Notre Dame? If Pac12 champ Oregon goes to the NCG then does the Rose Bowl pass on a two loss Stanford in favor of a one loss school with greater national draw? Maybe just maybe, yes.

What if... Houston loses to SMU and/or Tulsa? Then Boise will be the highest ranked non-AQ and would an attractive at-large candidate.

What if... LSU beats Arkansas but loses to UGA in the SEC championship game? Does Bama become #1 or #2? Not if they lose to Auburn.

What if... Alabama loses to Auburn, or UGA in the SEC championship game? Then they are out of the BCS NCG AND the Sugar Bowl.

What if Arkansas beats LSU and Alabama loses to Auburn? Then Arkansas wins the SEC West and plays Georgia in the SEC championship and loses. UGA goes to the Sugar Bowl. No SEC in the BCS NCG. No one takes a two loss SEC school over any one loss school with greater national draw.
