These are my top 4 "least discussed", but (in my view) most critical elements to the loss vs TCU.
1) Lack of receiving productivity at the RB position. Often overlooked is how good Martin has been as an outlet for Moore out of the backfield. Harper was simply not used in that way.
2) Billy Wynn played no real minutes. I felt our inability to create an interior pass rush was critical to the success of several big plays for TCU. There were simply to many times that we dropped back and held coverage for a reasonable amount of time but couldn't create any pressure on the QB to seal the deal. Wynn taking double teams and disrupting the pocket from the middle is a huge element to our defensive strategy given our inexperience and inujuries in the secondary.
3) Lady Luck. 5/6 turnovers when TCU's way. THey committed 4/6. You won't see that kind of disparity happen very often, particularly when 5/6 were fumbles.
4) Blitz protection from the RB position. I hate to take anything away from Harper b/c he had a great game but he is not nearly as effective at pass protection as Martin is. And it showed.
