What is all this crap about Boise State’s weak shedule? The Jeff Sagarin ratings thru Oct. 8, (Sagarin makes up 1/5 of the BCS computation), ranks Boise State as 4th in the Nation. He ranks BSU’s strength of schedule as 18th in the FBS. Remember, there are 120 FBS schools. By comparison, he ranks Oklahoma 19th, Alabama 23rd, Wisconsin 109th, Stanford 92nd, Oregon 43rd and Arkansas 60th. According to Sagarin, the only team in the top 10 with a better strength of schedule is LSU (11).
How does he arrive at such an outrageous conclusion about Boise State? Well, he compare opponents strength of schedule. Here are the rankings of Boise State’s opponent’s strength of schedule: Tulsa 1, Nevada 3, Georgia 13, Toledo 25, UNLV 34, Fresno State 35, San Jose State 36 – all in the top 1/3 in the FBS.<!--EndFragment-->
