Kellen Moore: Enjoy it while it lasts...
Kellen Moore (via tpg85404)
Kellen Moore has an ideal physique for a quarterback—if that quarterback competed in an adult flag football league. He's listed at 6 feet on the Boise State roster and may very well be that tall, if measured from the crown of the Boise blue ball cap he was sporting last week. He's not very fast. "He runs a sub-five-second 40," says a teammate. "Let's leave it at that." Critics question his arm strength.
Yet this seemingly unremarkable 23-year-old, this laconic, shaggy-haired lefty from Prosser, Wash., this newlywed who looks like the guy at Best Buy trying to hustle two-year warranties, is about to become the winningest quarterback in the history of major college football. Moore will likely break the record at UNLV on Nov. 5. What happens in Vegas will make NCAA history.

He should finish 1st
But I’m afraid his lack of a Hollywood PR campaign (you know, stuff that really matters on the football field) may hold him back.
The key is not the "will to win" - everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. ~ Bobby Knight

When was the last time that the winner had a major PR campaign?
It seems to me that the players that usually get that push come from non-traditional powers and they never win. I think this year’s big push was for Dan Persa of Northwestern. Last year was Jonathan Nesbitt of Georgia Tech. And, of course, there was the infamous “Joey Heisman” campaign for Joey Herrington of Oregon a decade or so ago.

Well last year
Cam Newton was mentioned at least once an hour, every hour of every day for nearly the entire season. He may have been the best player on the football field, but he didn’t carry the integrity side of things in my opinion. This year, well hell, since last year everyone in the media has stated almost daily once again that Andrew Luck is the guaranteed Heisman winner and number one NFL draft pick. I won’t knock Luck, because he is a good football player and a good guy as far as I can tell, however he isn’t that superior to Kellen, if at all when it comes to play on the field. Luck is 174/242 while Moore is 174/228, Luck has 23 TDs, Moore has 24, Luck has 2,218 yards while Moore has 2,010. Luck has also played one more game than Moore so far this season, and against a weaker overall schedule. Luck has only played 2 opponents with winning records, Boise has played 4. To put it in simpler terms, if we’re basing the Heisman this year on “on the field” performance, just like we did last year, then Moore clearly has the edge over Luck. However, the media likes Luck so much that’s all anyone ever hears about, and thus, he will probably win just because he was the consensus pick since the beginning of the season and hasn’t faltered yet.
"Moore took a knee. It was an act of mercy. Boise State didn't need style points. It had proven itself the superior program long before." - Andy Staples, SI.com
That's not a PR campaign.
That’s who ESPN and other media sources are talking about.. Those things are very different.
Besides, every single Heisman watch piece I’ve seen this season has mentioned Kellen Moore. He’s very much in the race. This is just the Boise persecution complex manifesting itself where it shouldn’t. Where you see Luck mentioned far more than Moore is on the NFL side of things. That’s because Andrew Luck is going to go first overall in the NFL draft and Kellen Moore isn’t.

wait for it
Kellen may finish first. Allot of football left to play and Kellen will be able have a few complete games before the season is over.
I hope so
But I fear the worst: Kellen doesn’t get an invite. It will be Luck, Wheedon, and that ’Bama RB.
You cannot reason a man out of something he didn't reason himself into in the first place.
If it comes down to a quarterback and a running back for the last invite...
I think they take the quarterback every time. Sorry, Trent.

Top 4 get an invite - Luck, Moore, Richardson and Blackmon
Once he breaks the win record this weekend, and rolls TCU, he will have the chips to get back to NYC no problem…maybe he will get a “lifetime achievement award” as the best QB in college football history. He has a chance to set what may be the single most enduring FBS QB record of all time – 51-2 as a starter (win out plus bowl win).
I would think he would be a shoo-in for the Dave O’Brien, because of the character, community service and leadership aspect of that award…but then again, that solid citizen (ghaak!) Cam Newton won it last year.
I will root for Alabama or Ohio State if they play the Chinese...maybe.
I will root for Auburn if they play Al Qaida, Hamas or the Phillies
Speaking of Cam...
I’m actually… wait for it… rooting for him to succeed in the NFL. I’m over the whole “Scam Newton” thing. He actually has a lot of talent and the Panthers are lucky to have him.

I've herd the expression suck for luck.
How bout bore for moore. Any NFL team smart enough to draft Kellen will be handed a gift. A rare QB not just the average joe but a Joe Montanna.
I'm the 12 th man its my job its my duty.
My prediction...
Come December, the headline will be “Kellen Heis-Moore.”

Hope the Seahawks take Kellen.
They could sure use some brains up there. Or maybe just a brain.
