Nobody thinks BSU should play for the National Title, even though they have proven themselves repeatedly (yes, even this season). Think about who they have played thus far: With one SC loss, Georgia will most likely be the SEC East champs, Toledo is the only undefeated MAC team and will most likely be the MAC champ, Tulsa needs to beat Houston in their final game and they're potential C-USA champs, Nevada will most likely be the WAC champ, and TCU would be the MWC champ if it weren't for those pesky Broncos. They will have beaten the champions of 4 different conferences! How many conference champs will Alabama and Stanford have beaten?
The idiots on BCS Countdown were raking the LA journalist over the coals who ranked Boise #1 since he couldn't elucidate his position like I did here. They sure seemed proud of themselves when he made circular arguments, but they never held Craig "The Toast of Texas" James' feet to the fire when Kirk Herbstreit asked him to explain his rationale behind ranking BSU 8th!
On top of all this, according to Sagarin strength of schedule, the only teams ranked above BSU's 31st toughest schedule who played a tougher schedule so far are LSU (18th) and OKST (6th). Yes, even Alabama's SOS came in behind BSU's (39th). Don't get me started on leapfrogging Stanford, who up until last night had a SOS in the 90s! After the nailbiter against a mediocre USC team, their schedule strength is STILL LESS THAN BSU's (53)!
Wow. Even though we pass the "paper test" and the "eyeball test" (to those whose eyes are open), we still can't pass the dirtbag perception test.
