I watched the BCS title game and almost had a coronary with the sucky play calling from Oregon! Yes Auburn had a lot of meat in the center. Therefore, you hit the flanks and run their butts in the ground! They would have gotten tired-quickly. Instead, they kept trying to hit the middle? What's up with that?( Note: Thomas making major mistakes in his reads didn't help either)
It was clearly shown that Auburn's secondary was very susceptible to the long ball. I would have used the sweep left, sweep right action to set Auburn up in the middle of the field. But that's just me.
Auburn won thegame and I give them the kudos for that. HOWEVER, it was clear to me that if they would have faced a more agreessive defense and an offense that could throw multiple looks at them on each and every play, the Tigers would have had a major problem. Let's see? Fast agressive defense- offense with multiple looks every time? Sounds like a team I know?
I'm sorry. I just can't help but feel that the wrong team was facing Auburn. I truly believe that either Boise, TCU or Stanford would have taken Auburn in that game.
