What Happened to Neutrality?
Yeah I'm not awesome with these posts. Just read below!~!!
So a day or so before the game there was an article in the Statesman about how the officials at Fed Ex Field wouldn't allow us to bring our horse to lead the team out on to the field because they wanted to maintain a sense of neutrality.
I guess letting Va Tech play Enter Sandman, which is what what they do at every home game to get their crowd to go absolutely nuts and fire up the team, as the team took the field was neutral then? I'm surprised no one mentioned that yet...it was clearly not neutral.
Not too mention that Va Tech got approx $1MM more than BSU to travel 2000 miles less than BSU, to play on a neutral field where they got to enter it just like they do every one of their home games....
I'm not bitter..

In listening to the post-game show on KBOI after the game, Paul J. also questioned the neutral field saying that VT promotionals were run during TV timeouts and that the stadium announcer was transplanted from Lane Stadium. Anyone able to verify that?
Yep they did
How about noise and de-fense on the big screen.. it was anything but neutral.

It definitely was not a "neutral" field by any stretch.
The redskins emblazoned billboards that adorn the sidelines were wrapped in Hokie purple/burgundy/cranberry/whatever. Their rallying cries and cheers were piped through the sound system. Plus the 70k + Hokie fans obviously made it a “close to home” environment.
Bringing the horse was a problem? Lucky they didn’t ask to paint the endzone Blue.
I'm always right. Your Welcome.
Enter Sandman
I would agree. I was also surprised that Tech taking the field was basically the exact same as in Blacksburg.
Watching from home it definitly looked like a Tech home game.
no need to be bitter . . you won!
Mik – Tech’s colors are . . .chicago maroon and burnt orange, officially . . . . purple would be Clemson for an ACC team and LSU for an SEC team. . . just saying!
Since Tech was billed as the “home” team . . . simply because the game was “BSU v. VA Tech”, that may answer why Tech was allowed to play “Enter Sandman”.

Oh I'm not bitter,
Just don’t call it a “neutral” site. Oklahoma would’ve been neutral, Fedex was not.
Example, in the 2005 Humanitarian Bowl, Boise State played Boston College at Bronco Stadium in Boise. Boston College was given the “home team” designation, it was far from a home team crowd. Better still, Boise State lost that game and they called it a “home loss”. But clearly it wasn’t right? It was a “neutral site” bowl game. Whatever.
So technically speaking, Boise State hasn’t lost a “true” home game since 2001. By far shattering Miami’s streak of home wins. Anyone with a brain knows that’s not the case.
I'm always right. Your Welcome.
four letters even pre-empted the broncos entering the stadium for a commercial.
they showed the hokies taking the field, then broke away and when they came back to live coverage the broncos had already entered fedex and the ball was on the tee for the kickoff.
This is national TV. So don't pick your noses or scratch your nuts.
We did win but
which makes it all the more sweet but thats not really the point. I absolutely hate when someone, especially in a competitive and professional situation says one thing, and then does the exact opposite. We were lied to. Thats why I’m bitter. We were told by the officials organizing the event that we couldn’t do “x” because of “y” yet the other team got to do “x” exactly because of “y”. It’s a total snub, a slap in the face and they know there’s nothing we can do about it. We took the $1MM less to be there in the first place. The institution needs to fall!! YEEEAAOOOWWWWWW

Extra cash
Well… was some of the extra cash that Tech received incentive to move the game to Week 1.
Playing this game on Week 1 hurt Tech pretty bad.
(The Tech powers-that-be should re-watch that first quarter and decide if it was worth the extra money)
Boise State had to play on Week 1 too
- In the heat & humidity
- On an “Away-Plus” field
- And had more than its fair share of turnovers and blown calls

In no way was that a nuetral game
For one thing the crowd was definitely majority VT, which is to be expected. But as soon as I sat down in the stands and started watching the jumbotron it became very clear that they weren’t going to make any effort to appeal to Bronco fans. EVERY shot was of Virginia Tech fans, the two or three of Boise State fans, were when they walked in front of Virginia Tech fans. Then Enter Sandman started playing, and my mind was blown. They did everything they could to accommodate the Hokie fans, and nothing for the Bronco fans. It was ridiculous. Granted I expected some homerism, and obviously the Fedex people are going to try to appeal to Hokie fans because many of them are also Redskins fans. I’m well aware of the Hokie/Redskin fan base, I live in Maryland. But they didn’t make any effort to make the game nuetral, they should have just held the game at Blacksburg, we would’ve gotten more credit for a W.

Um
Boise won… why are you guys complaining about field nuetrality?
Heck, even if Tech held on for the win… isn’t the big Boise State rallying cry: “We’ll play anyone, anywhere!”
As far as crowd and all that… where were they supposed to play the game? In the middle of Kansas? Oklahoma? Who would have gone to that game? For attendance purposes, the game needs to be somewhere in the vicinity of at least one team’s fanbase.
Didn’t Oregeon State play TCU last weekend in Dallas? Why do you think most bowl games play in front of half empty crowds?
you're right
Maybe it wasn’t as ‘neutral’ as advertised, but that didn’t seem to affect the Broncos much. No complaints here.

Thank you
… heck.. the “home field” aspect might have had the opposite effect on both teams for all we know.
Maybe Tech came in there a little too amped up and caught up in the fans and the excitement (that first quarter sure looked like that might have been the case..) Maybe Boise State walked in there against an obviously partial crowd a little more ticked off and with a bit more of “us against the world” attitude because of it.

Sweeter Victory!
Playing in those conditions, with a heavy bias for Virginia Tech, actually helps Boise State. Many believe that had we played Oklahoma or any other big boy on their own field (with the exception of Oregon) that we would have lost and that we can only win on a neutral field against the big boys. We might as well look at this as if it were a victory in Blacksburg, which I hear is a very difficult place to play! GO BRONCOS!!
to the victors the spoils!
It woud be great if they decided to give the $2 M to the winner and the $1 M to the loser. Both AD’s would have gone into cardiac arrest!!
