Me Losing My Mind Following Vandals on Twitter
I need to stop following Vandal fans. I almost had an aneurysm...
It's Saturday. I'm relaxing at home, watching football and some good games going on. And I'm also tweeting my thoughts, etc.
So here's what Andy Hutchins had to say after the stunning Jacksonville State upset of Ole Miss.:
Ok. Fine. Cool. I am ok with this. I saw the second OT on ESPN because they decided to air it. It was an epic TD and subsequent two point conversion (I thought there were going to do trickeration, ala Boise State). Anyway, that quote is, I feel, correct. But then this:
My first thought was, "No, no, no, no!!!". Having the cajones to go for two is one thing, fine, but what?! Was UI even an underdog in the Humanitarian Bowl? And, no, I could look it up, but I won't. I flat out refuse to do that. If anything, they were not the underdogs in that game.
Then this:
Again, I'm losing it at this point because this is not, as they so eloquently state it, #StuffRobbAkeySays.
And then, of course, he follows it up with:
No. No. No. Sure, I'm cool with "Fortune favors the bold" but, not especially for the "tribe up north". Not the ones that do an onside kick on FCS team North Dakota to open a half. When they're up by 17 and haven't allowed a score. The ONLY bold move the Vandals have performed was a two point scramble in a game that was more of a pillow fight than anything. Please, anyone, show me a game or situation that justifies this reponse!!
If anything, it's "Fortune follows the bold or Coach Pete".
Anyway, I apparently have too much emotional investment in this because this irked me waaaay too much. Ugh.
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

It's ok.
If you’re following Vandals on twitter, the best thing to do is read but to not respond … emotionally or twitter-ly. I found out that Ian Johnson got cut yesterday by a Vandal fan.. .like they were stalking his every move to see when it would go wrong. First of all, while I commend Iupati and Max Komar for getting NFL roster spots, Vandal fans wish about a star that any BSU alum would fail miserably at life… somehow this vindicates them. Second, I think everyone and their dog knew that Ian Johnson might not even make the practice squad when the Vikings drafted Toby Gerhart.. so it wasn’t as if this was shocking news or anything.
My point being: They will look for anything, I mean anything, to find a reason of happiness to follow the Vandals. I can understand that. For many years - nigh, a decade- all they’ve had to use for fuel is hatred. That can change any fan. Just let them be and chuckle when you read a Vandal tweet (except @JoeVandal .. never ever ever follow him).
Also, I found out from a Vandal tweeter that Scott Van Pelt is going to be in Moscow for the BSU/Idaho game. Sounds like fun to me!

But Robb Akey went for two in the H-Bowl and called an onside kick against UND...
