How does the outcome of the Oregon State / TCU game on Saturday affect Boise State's Monday night performance?
There are a couple possibilities here that may play into Boise State's Monday night performance.
An Oregon State loss: means that Boise State's other major non-conference game loses a lot of it's luster. Oregon State no longer will be ranked, and will enter the week 3 game with a 1-loss already. Kind of turns up the heat to make a bigger statement on Labor Day night.
If Oregon State loses, then TCU won. Boise State then needs to keep "pace" with TCU and in a fashion to help prevent TCU from jumping BSU sometime later in the season.
If TCU loses... Does the heat then get brought to another level for Labor Day night? TCU will be essentially be eliminated by Saturday night for consideration for the NCG game. BSU will be left standing as the lone hope for a non-BCS school to make the NCG. In addition, there goes BSU only competition (from a non-BCS school standpoint) for a NCG slot).
Any other thoughts?
