KTVB pretty sure KTVB is in the right with this press conference business
Did you hear the news? God died and left KTVB in charge!
Max Corbet and the Boise State administration most certainly did not get the memo, which is ironic because KTVB apparently did not get Max Corbet's memo. You know, the one about not airing press conferences live. It must have been filed in the same place as Mark Johnson's Boise State roster, a.k.a. the trash.
The story got legs yesterday evening because KTVB gave it legs, calling on the powers of media legal analysts and experts to back them up. For instant OBNUG reaction, I'd like to point you in the direction of the newsy FanPost posted by grindhouse. Lots of good discussion going on there. KTVB may want to set up a live feed of that sucker.
If you want my opinion, it is this: KTVB crossed the line. A lot of lines, in fact. They were greedy in demanding access; they were rude and belligerent in their methods; they were sneaky and subversive in their intentions; and they were pompous and arrogant in their coverage of the whole thing. I had to watch KBOI 2 News to purge my mind of journalism inappropriateness last night. And now I cannot un-see Vin Crosby.
Being upset about a denial of access is one thing. But it is something else entirely to stage a tantrum like they did by interrupting the press conference and reporting the issue as if it were the O.J. Simpson trial. I have serious reservations about how information is disseminated from Boise State University, but hijacking a presser is not the best way of hashing those issues out. For once, I was rooting for Max Corbet. And I never thought I would root for Max Corbet.
For the final word on this story, I think we need to ask this question: What does Justin Corr think of KTVB's actions?
Justin Corr is disappointed in you, KTVB. For shame.
This content was not created by OBNUG and therefore may not meet our standards. On the contrary, it probably exceeds them.

I knew you'd have a take on this, Kevan!

Oh Kevan – you absolutely kill me on a fairly regular basis. The best part was the Vandal trying to act assertive, sort of… Maybe. Oh my gosh the whole thing was so uncomfortably ridiculous, and then to throw the “attorney” talk at us to convince us that they were doing the public at large a huge favor with their arrogance… Just plain FAIL.

Of what variety, though?
Remember, he works for Those Who Own All Broadcast Right In The Treasure Valley (TWOABRITV)

Well, technically
he has his own company and TWOABRITV hires him from time to time if I understand correctly.
KTVB doing the games??
Hey so looking on the schedule for this year i noticed that KTVB isnt picking up the games that arent being aired nationally (espn cbscollege) Do you know what’s the deal there. Will those games still be available through Bronco vision on the school’s website. (that is the only way I get those games up here in washington)
As far as I know, they’re on KTVB. http://voices.idahostatesman.com/2010/08/10/bmurphy/ktvb_air_four_boise_state_football_games
The only one yet undecided is the Utah State game.

I'm still a little confused...
So KTVB was trying to make a fuss/scene about something?
I was trying to follow along on Twitter yesterday, but still don’t fully understand what is going on here.
So Boise State doesn’t have the best media relations so KTVB tried to make a scene to make the Bronco Athletic Dept look bad? They were trying to air the press conference live even though they knew they couldn’t?
I thought KTVB and the Boise State Athletic Dept were at least friendly, but I guess there has been something brewing for awhile. I saw some comments from other local media saying something along the lines of – I agree with the war, but this battle was a joke – or something like that..
If anybody can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks.
To recap:
KTVB wanted to air Coach Pete’s press conference live. In the memo sent out before the press conference, Boise State made it clear that no one would be airing it live except for BroncoSports.com. Partway through the presser, the KTVB camera guy asked Coach Pete to stop so he could get the KTVB live feed set up. Max Corbet, BSU’s media guy, stepped in and told him no. Those two had a back and forth for a little bit in front of everyone, and it was pretty awkward and messy. In the end, KTVB did not get to air it live.
KTVB later went on the air and online to say how wrong BSU was for not allowing the live feed. Here’s a link to their story and a video: http://www.ktvb.com/news/KTVB-and-BSU-battle-over-live-broadcast-101606783.html
Hope that clears it up.

Yeah makes sense.
So basically KTVB was just trying to be a jerk. They knew the rules, but chose to break them anyway, and then threw a fit. Niiiice!
Haha we were just talking at work the other day about how all the “reporters” at KTVB all think think their BADWORDS don’t stink. Idiots.
Personally
I blame Justin Corr. For everything.

Yeah, I never knew first amendment rights included LIVE broadcasts
Silly.

KTVB isn't doing themselves any favors.
Last I checked they’re not the only TV broadcasting station in the valley. Go ahead, KTVB, destroy your good relationship with BSU. See how long you will broadcast games after this year. Channels 2,6,12 you paying attention? They need to learn to pick their battles.
How about this for an easy solution
Rather than take the games away from KTVB, Max Corbet should give them live press conference rights…..as soon as they prove they can produce a national broadcast quality presentation of games.

Great suggestion
Sadly, they can barely produce a quality local newscast . Has anyone watched the broadcast at ten or on the weekends lately??
