"Attendance hit an all-time low this season at 3,061 fans per game"
This and the 65-69 in WAC play probably what ultimately did him in, although I know there are numerous other things as well.
Official release from Broncosports.com.
So...
Will people start going to the games next season now that there is a new coach? Basketball is still basketball, right?

Boise State not only needs to hire a young, energetic assistant from a power school or overachiever...
they also need to hire a good recruiter, and someone that can inject some enthusiasm into the community. Remember what Pokey Allen and Dirk Koetter did to challenge the fans to return? Same deal here after being lulled to sleep (or coma) by Greg Graham.
Absolutely agree
A college basketball game should be a blast to attend. With Graham there, he let all the air out of the balloon.
Even though I’ve always loved basketball I’ve had trouble attending games because of Graham’s poor coaching. Drew I agree. I hope we get a good coach that will challenge us fans to attend games again.
Go Broncos!

“How is it his fault?” I, of course, had to explain to her that Coach Graham and his staff have EVERY move in the program under their direction. Unlike professional sports, they get to pick each and every guy that comes to BSU. There’s no general manager to bring in talent. THEY ARE THE GENERAL MANAGERS! The BSU Basketball staff has to motivate each and every player as well. For some reason, they weren’t motivated at all. They didn’t play to their potential each and every game. They did just enough to keep their scholarships. Now, am I questioning each boys’ character? NO. I’m just questioning how they responded to what Coach Graham and his staff had to say!
Noel.Diggity.....NO DOUBT!

“We won the second half-if you want to look at it that way.”
Real locker-room wall stuff there.
Head coach is responsible for community promotion as well as coaching
If you all don’t mind a supportive comment from a graduate of one of your WAC rivals…
The head coach is not only responsible for recruiting, coaching, making sure the players are taking care of business in the classroom, etc., he is also the face of the program in the community and is responsible for promoting the program to the community. You need an energetic coach who can not only get the job done on the court but is also willing and able to reach out to the community to generate excitement about the program. Even if the program is in a rebuilding mode, people will come to the games if 1) they feel a personal connection to or sense of ownership about the team, like you do with your football program (“it’s ‘our’ team”), 2) the fans have reason to believe the games will be entertaining regardless of the outcome, and 3) if fans have a reason for optimism about the long-term direction of the program. Just getting the community behind the team helps recruiting enormously (not to mention boosting the home court advantage), so that alone should be an incentive for the coach to be an active promoter of the program. I’ve seen first hand with my alma mater how much of a difference it can make in attendance when the coach actively goes out into the community to hype the program.
I wish you all the best in your search for a new coach.
Why is Pat Hill come the first thing to come to my mind here? I think, to start, this is exactly what a coach needs to be, but as it progresses, your job as coach is to fill those seats… if you never win, that may never happen.
Oh, unless you sell beer at your stadium

Greg Graham’s teams played one good half of basketball per game…without fail.

One good half per game
Like I said, the coach has to be able to get the job done on the court as well as promote the program in the community. Only a single half of decent ball per game, season after season, isn’t going to cut it, especially where fan’s expectations of steady long term improvement are concerned. It sounds, to this outside observer, that Coach Graham either had a hard time recognizing the need to make in-game adjustments or waited until it was too late for the adjustments to do any good.
does greg patton coach basketball?
now there’s a guy with some enthusiasm and one who knows how to promote a team sport. if only boise state could clone him.
This is national TV. So don't pick your noses or scratch your nuts.
