What is it about walk-ons? In 2006, a young man joined the BSU football program and changed everything. He was named a two time all WAC defensive player after his first season of play, and more importantly, had endeared himself to Bronco Nation with his sheer tenacity on the field. Again in 2008 and 2009, he made his presence felt by striking fear in the hearts of opposing offenses.
The one that sticks in my head is his beautiful sack against Andy Dalton in the Fiesta Bowl v. TCU. I love watching Ryan work, but it's even sweeter seeing him punish a ginger QB in a purple shirt for even thinking he could complete that pass. Here, watch!
Here's to you, Mr. Winterswyk. Thank you for just being you, and scaring the (bw) out of every quarterback who had the bad sense to face you on the field.
