Okay so the chances are slim but here is what we Bronconians need to root for this Saturday.

1)An Oregon loss.  This helps in more ways than one but the biggest reason is that it is the only logical way that voters may jump Wisc. over Stanford.  In order for BSU to have a half way decent shot at making a BCS game Stanford must not be #4 and get an auto bid to a BCS game.  Stanford is one of the only teams ranked ahead of us that Boise State may be choosen ahead of.  Also, of course, it helps BSU's SOS.

2)  Virginia Tech win.  I know some people call for the Florida St. win so the Orange Bowl would be able to pick us and not have a re-match but I see it differently based on two things.  First, BSU is currently ranked at #11 and I fear a loss by our best win may cause voters to downgrade us enough to fall out of the top 14 spot that we need to qualify for a BCS game and a Va. Tech win may push us up to 10th which looks even better. Also the Orange Bowl rep said in an interview that he had zero problem with a re-match as it was such a popular game and the added story lines of "can BSU beat a team later in the year."  Add to this that the Kraft Bowl tried to get the BCS bowls to release BSU so they could invite us and the Orange Bowl refused to release BSU.

3)  Oklahoma win.  Nebraska dropping from the top 14 can only help BSU.

4)  BSU win.  This falls in the, well DUH, category!

Okay here is how it could shake out.

MNC:         Auburn vs TCU                        Which to root for?  Ugh...            

Rose:        Oregon vs Wisc.                     Rose would be set in this example B10 vs P10 champs

Sugar:       Arkansas vs Ohio State        Seems like the only match-up but Sugar doesn't have to pick SEC here

Orange:    Va. Tech vs Boise State        I truly believe they would take BSU over Stanford, Ok. St. or Missouri

Fiesta:      Oklahoma vs Uconn.              I hate the Big lEast

Others considered:  Stanford and Ok. St and Mizz..- that is it!  Others are LSU and Mich. St which already have two league mates in the BCS and can not be chosen.

Wishful thinking to be sure but hey its worth watching...the key is getting Stanford out of the #4 spot to give us a sliver of hope!
