My team, for the most part, has been irrelevant this year. Rebuilding and injuries will do that.
So, with PSU going nowhere, I was pulling for Boise State a lot. I was thrilled that first night when they beat Virginia Tech, showing once and for all they could hang.
I've been pulling for BSU along with PSU since they hit the national stage in the Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma.
As a Penn State Fan, for many years, I have experienced heartbreak with these close losses as what happened to Boise tonight. We lost in 2005 to Michigan on a last-second TD that cost us an NCG bid. We lost to Iowa in 2008 on a last-second FG that cost us an NCG bid. Just like with BSU tonight, these were games we should not have lost.
Welcome to [Gus Johnson]HEART-BREAK-CITY!!![/Gus Johnson], Boise. It's not a fun time. I felt like hell when Iowa beat us two years ago. But don't let it hang on you for so long. I can only imagine how badly Brotzman is feeling this morning. You can not let the haters bring you down. I don't know how well you could do against Auburn or Oregon this year, but of course now we'll never know (Unless maybe we run a sim on NCAA 11).
You guys still had a great season and left a lasting impression. Losing to another WAC team proves nothing. The haters ignore that Nevada was also ranked and had a darn good team themselves, despite the loss to Hawaii. No shame in the loss at all.
From this Nittany Lion fan who hopes to catch the upset wave, good luck next year. And maybe in the future you can come out to Happy Valley and we can head to the Smurf Turf in a home-and-home.
FINALLY, TO THE BSU DOES NOT BELONG CROWD:
Look at Boise's upcoming opponents. They're going to Atlanta next year to play Georgia. In 2012 they'll be going to East Lansing to play Michigan State. And what is the SEC scheduling? Bumblescum State? Middle-of-Nowhere University? Step up and play them since you're all so confident you SEC/B10 teams will win. Yeah, that includes my own PSU who played Youngstown State, Kent State and Temple as part of their OOC.
