Congrats from a Ute and MWC fan
That was a great game between two great teams. I thought Andy Dalton would be the difference in the game, but I expected it to be a positive difference. Your defensive line shut down TCU's running game, forcing the Frogs to be one-dimensional and forcing Dalton to beat you, and he didn't.
I also have a ton of respect for your offensive philosophy and execution. Five sacks all year is impressive, and it effectively neutralized the Frogs defensive line, which has been a huge strength all year. And Doug Martin is a ballplayer.
Chris Petersen is a fantastic coach, your fans travel really well, and I hope to see you guys in the MWC soon.

You are very correct, IMO, in that it was a GREAT game between two GREAT programs. I have seem multiple articles from talking heads saying this game was boring and that both teams were unimpressive. What a load…both those teams played their hearts out and laid it all on the line. There was a little sloppy play at times on both sides but that one will go down in my mind as an epic battle between two outstanding defenses.
I have been impressed with that TCU team all year as I have had the opportunity to watch them play several times. I have nothing but respect for that coaching staff and those players.
The talking heads don't care for defense.
That is why the talking heads mis judge the MWC and for the past tow years Boise State.
Great win!
I hope you all have the audacity to post a 2009 National Championship banner. I would love to see that.

someone from the non-aqs has to post it one fine day
Might as well be BSU. I expect TCU to get right back in the hunt next year too.

Unless it’s the SEC.

If I recall...
That wasn’t even the MWC’s best defense
I love the colors Orange and Blue. Go Broncos!!! Go Titans!!! BAD WORD Gators!!!
that is funny because when the sec does it when they play each other.....
that is all they drool over. how great thir defenses are. lets see how great the gators defense is next year and see how many wins they get. i expect a year like usc had.

next year
I have sad news for the gator fans and usc fans. Fla. you’re gonna really suck next year. SC fans- well if you think you’re gonna rise back to prominence just remember that everyone else in the PAC 10 is getting better too! By the way USC- have some balls and schedule Boise sometime or a good MWC team like Utah or BYU. Scared of getting beat down?
defense
The cronies for the sec, big12, pac10, big 10 all harp about how defense can win a national title. That is unitl a WAC or MWC team demonstrates that fact. Then its termed as a boring game. Instead of the AQ teams whining about how the WAC and MWC don’t play anyone good, why don’t they schedule some games with the WAC and MWC? Are they scared?
Thanks for the post,
It would be great to be in the MWC, and be a AQ and actually have legit conference competition and a MWC championship that meant quite a bit. One can dream. If not that, see ya in a few years on the field…

Congratulations from buildingthedam.com
Looking forward to seeing you guys in September; the Beavers and Broncos game should be a lot of fun.
Very impressive job by Justin Wilcox. I covered him and his brother in high school; boy, has Justin come a long way! The Bronco defense was very well conceived, and I especially liked how aggressive and creative they played.

Go Beavs!
Congrats to the MWC
You guys went 4-1 in your bowls! And 2 of those wins were beat downs of the PAC 10!
The only loss
was to a team that shou8ld have been in the MWC anyways.

Heh.
I mentioned somewhere else before that I consider the MWC to be 5-1 in bowls this year. I already consider Boise a part of the conference, and I mean that purely out of respect. Unlike the rest of the MWC, who was kept in the conference based on history (and in TCU’s case, recruiting), Boise has earned their respect straight-up.

Please be right about this...
I can’t even figure out who is going to be the challenger to the Broncos next year in the WAC for the end of the year game. Fresno, I guess. Nevada looks to be worse, and Idaho and USU are nowhere near ready for prime time. La Tech comes to the Blue. Yeesh, I hope this is the last year.
the mwc has won the bowl percentage trophy three times
that is more than the sec. i really hope we see bosie state play bama for the ncg next year at the fiesta bowl. bsu would have the fans on their side and you are familiar with the field. bama did not impress me that much vs texas. you think they should have won by 4 td’s over texas. it was 24-21 with 5 or 6 minutes left right?

i was thinking more about our wins over pac-ten teams
i actually think fresno has a legit excuse. they traveled almost 30,000 miles if you count bowl game. i’ll bet that is more than 7500 miles more than the second place finisher. they were all over the country and i would welcome not only boise state but fresno with there" we will play anyone attitude coach" and nevada b/c nevada is going to have a shakeup now that your conference has some bcs money to share. i would like nevada in mwc too but chris ault wants to go the other way. he wants less aq bcs conference games. that is wrong you need to keep those. he already fired defensive coordinator but i live in nevada and if they don’t win a bowl game in c.k last year he will be gone from team.

Imagine how good the game could've been...
As the first round of a 10-team playoff, a week after the conference championships. Instead of after a long layoff. Great game seeing as it was basically Week 1 all over again!
Welcome to the Sound Pound...
Picture this:
This is the design I posted the monday after the BCS standings came out:
Texas hosts Oregon
Cincinnati host Boise St.
TCU hosts Florida
Alabama plays the lowest ranked teams in the Sugar Bowl while the other two advancing teams would meet in the Fiesta Bowl.
It certainly looks like Boise State and Florida would have pulled off the upsets. This would give us
Sugar: Alabama vs. Boise St.
Fiesta: Texas vs. Florida
Rose: Ohio St. vs ? (BYU Maybe?)
Orange: Georgia Tech vs. Iowa
NCG: Sugar vs. Fiesta winners

I don't get it...
Why not keep the same formula and qualifications as now, but use a 10 team playoff instead of 5 one-and-dones? Just take the BCS from 5 games to 9. The six AQ’s get the six byes, maybe? Then we can keep traditional bowl match-ups to satisfy those wanting to keep tradition (i.e. Rose Bowl: Big Ten vs. Pac-10), but the winners of the games move on to the semifinals. Brilliant! The reason college football is a joke is because everyone is trying to change things too much(16+ team playoff) or too little(8-team playoff or plus-one) so too many are left unhappy(sponsors and non-BCS conferences, respectively). What do you think has anyone mentioned this to you? I think that’s pretty good equilibrium…
Welcome to the Sound Pound...
Shhhhh.
Remember, you’re not supposed to shoot down ANY playoff proposal. Bill Hancock and playoffproblem.com lurkers are out there and they will quote you, stating it’s material against any playoff idea.
The answer is always, “Great idea! Screw you, BCS!” Always.

New on Playoff problem:

His post was not supporting the BCS, but offering a compelling idea as an improvement. A playoff supporter here would be a troll.

i support the BCS...
formula 100%. Just not how we use it.
How in the world are we supposed to pick the top 2 teams out of 119(i think, don’t worry about correcting me) with only a 12 game schedule? Correct me on this if I am wrong: [Since the creation of the BCS, a team that was a legitimate title contender was left out of the BCS entirely.] This formula they have is perfect for separating teams into tiers and generally grouping them, the problem lies in that picking the correct two out of 119 requires too much precision.
If we promote this system, we could have a chance at doing this!
+1: terrible idea in so many ways. Absolutely a non-starter.
8 teams-not enough, excludes MWC and Boise, which have proven they belong.
12 teams-good, just requires too much change, and could be too inclusive.
14, 16 teams-Far too inclusive and time-consuming.
This 10-team deal i speak of is perfect. I don’t see any problem with it. It just adds 4 games to the season, and gives teams a chance to play to their potential.
The biggest problem we have is the month-long layoff. BCS games, along with most others, are a joke because of the rust and missed tackles. This issue isn’t blown up enough. The NC and BCS bowls are not legitimate contests at all, more like week 1 all over again, but with a bigtime opponent and huge ramifications. Not fair to the athletes. Oh, they’d miss finals over Christmas Break, though, right? Not only are there not finals over Christmas Break, but no D1 player who sees the field on gameday attends class unless they really want to. I go to a FCS school in the Big Sky, and no football players here go to class after the first day.
Want deeper reasoning or a long essay describing my points? Feel free to ask… I’m convinced this is right and works for everyone, so please try and find a hole in it :)
Welcome to the Sound Pound...
You know.
I’ve always wondered why the BCS just doesn’t sponsor a playoff themselves. I’m sure they can find a way where it’s still beneficial to them monetarily. They only have to change their name from the Bowl Championship Series to Bowl Championship Series (plural).
"Everyone counted us out. I don't know why they keep doing that." -- Kyle Wilson
I meant
that it’s not worth changing unless we do it the way I suggested. I’d love to have one of those playoff haters dig into my idea. Where you at, lurkers?
Welcome to the Sound Pound...
Pretty dern good!
Best 10,12,14 team design I have seen yet.
The key to my design is to change the current paradigm of shoehorning a select group of the top teams into a rigid tournament (forcing selections to be made from potentially contentious decisions) to a paradigm that selects the qualifying teams and defines a process of formatting a tournament around them (creating a vastly increased measure of consensus at the cutoff).
