Nebraska vs. Boise State: Should Gene Bleymaier pull the trigger?

Nebraska AD Tom Osborne has submitted a three-game series (two games in Lincoln, one in Boise) offer to Boise State AD Gene Bleymaier.  Only problem is that Osborne offered it 2 1/2 months ago and still no reply.

What is Bleymaier waiting for? Would you take the deal? Are the Broncos not that serious about playing big games on the road after all?

The story started with a KTIK interview with Osborne:

Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne has offered Boise State a 2-for-1 scheduling proposal, he said Friday on the Idaho Sports Talk with Caves and Prater radio show on KTIK. The proposal calls for two games in Lincoln, Neb., and one in Bronco Stadium, with the series starting in 2015, Osborne said.

What's your take on this?  Would you like to see the series?  It doesn't start until 2015, even though I think a non-conference game like that could happen sooner.  Kind of curious as to why it would take so long to give an answer?

Yeah, Nebraska gets two of the three  home games, but Boise State gets a home game against a marquee national championship contender plus a huge payday. There would be no trouble selling out that one, and I'm sure that it would make at least a primetime game on ESPN.

Points to consider:

No specific monetary terms were mentioned. Is Bleymaier holding out for more money?

Since the series would not begin until 2015, the Broncos might not be in any hurry to finalize the contract.

Fresno State has a 2-for-1 with Nebraska, beginning in 2011.

Do the Broncos deserve better than a 2-for-1 considering how well they have played in recent seasons?

If the Broncos come to Lincoln twice, the Cornhuskers will play a game in Boise. Does that seem fair to Nebraska? Obviously. Does it seem as fair to Boise State? Apparently not.

Boise State, feeling it has moved higher up the college football food chain by virtue of its record and its 2-0 record in BCS bowls, clearly wants better terms. Good for the program for sticking up for itself. But it’s going to make it difficult for the Broncos to get high-profile regular-season games.

Your turn

Thoughts?  I think this thing shoulda been inked months ago. How about you?
