I've seen people propose a +1 system for the bowls, which would be somewhere between the current bowl system and the playoffs.  If the +1 system would have been in place this year, you know what we'd have gotten?  An Alabama-Florida rematch, from the looks of it.  (Florida is above Boise State in the polls, and probably in enough computers to stay ahead.)  Not much of a fix, in my opinion.

(I assume a +1 system would take the two highest-rated teams in the BCS and match them up after the bowls are done.  Maybe if there were a +1, some voters might have thought Boise State deserves a matchup with Alabama and might have voted Boise State higher to get that matchup?)
