Ok, so like everyone else, I'm pretty tired of hearing about the antics after the Oregon game, instead of the game itself. However, as time has gone on, disscusion seems to have switched to what Byron Hout did, and how he's going to be punished, and I wanted to get the NUGers thoughts on this.
First off, I think a lot of people are underestimating the punishment he is going to get. This is the guy he has to deal with.
Not exactly a walk in the park. Coach Pete does not take things like this lightly, and I can guaruntee you that Byron Hout won't have this problem again.
Second, I'd like to know what exactly those who have been calling for Hout's suspension want him punished for. Trash talking? As much as I'd like to live in a world where the sun always shines, and all the raindrops are lemondrops and gumdrops, it's just not realistic. After watching the video of the punch several times, my best guess is that Hout told Blount, "How about that ass-whoopin!" Basically throwing Blount's own words back at him. Are we going to punish Blount for that? Are we going to make trash talk illegal, because that's the only way I see Hout earning punishment.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not defending what Hout did. At Boise State, we pride ourselves on being one of the classiest teams in the country. You won't hear us trash talking to the media before games, and it shouldn't happen afterwards either. Let the scoreboard speak for itself! However, I disagree that Hout needs furthur punishment. He got knocked down on national TV! How much worse can it get! Oh, wait. He's still got this guy to deal with.
What should Hout's punishment be?
