Dumb POV
But the comments are classic.
"You know where i'm from, a little suspicion about one's true identity and motives is considered good manners."

This is briliant logic.
Remember the whole “sticks and stones” thing from when you were a kid? Well, forget about that…if someone says something to you you don’t like…punch their face in!
Blount brought comments on himself by running his mouth in the lead-up to the game and Hout gave him some ribbing…it doesn’t matter if Hout criticized Blount’s mother…you can’t sucker punch people in the face.
I will say this: Hout should have kept his mouth shut…jawing during the game is a part of it, but after the game the scoreboard speaks the loudest. Pete was obviously trying to get Hout to be a little more tactful and then BAM!
Hout’s actions will only reinforce what the Bronco coaches preach every week: Conduct yourself with class. Hout shouldn’t have talked in the first place and will get a talking to, but a suspension? You’ve gotta be kidding me.
Coach Pete on Rome today. “We need to keep our mouths shut and let the scoreboard do the talking.” Hout did not deserve the shot to the jaw, but he did deserve Coach Pete getting up into his grill. Too bad the game is remembered for what happened after play concluded.

should he get more?
Some talking heads are saying that Hout should get suspended too. I’m not sure I agree with that, but should the coaching staff take any action against hout? I guess it depends on what Hout actually said probably.
if you watch carefully,
you can see Hout mouth the words “ass whuppin” at the end. Its harder to see what he said first though. To me, it looks as if he said, “hows that for an ass whuppin” or “so much for the ass whuppin”.
Whatever, but you can see how he ends the statement. It obviously was in direct response to Blount’s words before the game. So much for not giving the pre game smack talk any thought huh?

Guys, you are not addressing the slap on the shoulder pads in your comments
It wasn’t just trash talking. Two guys get in a shouting match over a parking lot incident. Tempers are flaired etc. Nothing happens but hot air UNTIL, one of them pushes, or shoves, or slaps the other on the shoulder then, watch-out cuz the hot air becomes phyiscal violence in an instant. That is reality – ask any cop. What would you do – honestly – if I slaped you on the shoulder after the game? I don’t know how you can’t see the difference in some trash talking and what really happened. Why do you think Pete jumped in so quickly when he saw what Hout was doing. He knew what could come from Hout acting the idiot. I have had a lot of fun with you guys the last few weeks and am suprised by a lot of you not thinking a short suspention is in order. Most of the sporting world does. You might want to think about if the tables were turned, would it be okay for an Oregon player to slap a BSU player after a game? I think not.
